The diverter valve powers over to the ch position and rests in dhw mode so i cant see it sticking in the ch pos but it poss ,can you see the lever on the side of the valve move after a ch demand (takes 12 seconds). if the ch is off and you turn a hot tap on does it fire up.

Very much doupt its the gas valve not modulateing as the 280 is not that responsive, more chance of poor circulation .The gas wont start to ramp down untill the hot water gets to above 55 degC so if your eng tests the hot water temp comeing out of the boiler while manometer atatched he will see...

Pump overrun kicks in when temp at ch sensor is above 55c ,the noise is usually after the gas has shut down ,never had no pump overrun on a heatronic board , have had loss of power to the pump a few times (stalling) but that just comes with no warning in seconds.

If you read one bar on the boilers pressure gauge then you were presuriseing the whole boiler, you need the drain off open then take the pressure from the air valve with a tyre gauge,but if you have water at the air valve then the vessel is kaputt. Its a corgi job to replace it as the gas valve...
