    Fitting TRV's

Thanks to you both. If that happens do you know if I'll need a specific kind of pipe cutter or will anyone do e.g. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/12468/Hand-Tools/Plumbing-Tools/Pipe-Cutters/Automatic-Pipe-Cutter-15mm I'll be using a Honeywell VT200E if that makes any difference.

Buying induction hob - requires forced ventilation oven???

Hi, I'm about to buy an Induction hob (Indesit VIA640C) that will be installed above a single oven. One of the requirements for the hob is that if it is to be installed above an oven, the oven has to be forced ventilation. I don't suppose anyone can tell me what that means? The oven is a...

New hob - how many amps

Thank you all for your help. I've worked out i can connect the oven to a socket currently used by the washing machine (as long as i convert it to a double socket). As I'm going to need a lead from the oven to the socket that's about about 2 meters longer than the other one can you please tell...

New hob - how many amps

I don't have another 13A socket easily available so it would mean updating that circuit. Is there anyway around it? I believe my current hob is 6K Watts - will another 1.2K Watts make that much difference?

New hob - how many amps

So does that mean with the oven running at the same time (which i believe is about 2500 Watts) i need to update the fuse in the consumer unit or do i work it out on the basis that it's unlikely that all will be on at once? Many thanks!

New hob - how many amps

I'm looking to replace my old electric hob with an Induction one (Indesit VIA640C). I've currently got a 32amp fuse in my fuse box which is used for the hob and a single oven (which runs off a 13amp plug). The new hob uses a max of 7,200W. Will this be OK as a straight replacement or will...

Glow Worm 24ci - was losing pressure - now has no pressure..

Thanks Alfredo. I've just done what you mentioned above and it has fixed the issue with my filling loop too. I was thinking i was going to have to get a heating engineer out so it has saved me a few quid! Thanks again!

    Dulux Eggshell paint outside

Hi, I've got some Dulux Eggshell paint left over from doing the interior doors. I was just wondering if i'd be able to use this outside on the metal meter box or will i have to get some gloss? Thanks

    Boilder losing pressure

I have a Gloworw 24ci boiler that recently has been losing pressure quite frequently with me having to fill up the boiler at least once a week where it drops from about 1.1 bar to 0.5 bar. There's an expansion vessel outside the boiler so i'm not sure if some point the one inside the boilder...

    2-way switches

I'm looking to replace all my switches and sockets in the house with chrome ones. For one of the light switches i need a 2 gang 1 way switch but i only seems to be able to purchase a 2 gang 2 way switch. Will this cause any issues?

Glow Worm 24ci boiler - hot water problem and damaged screw

Just thought i would update this thread. The plate heat exchanger was replaced (without the screws being a problem) by an independent engineer. All works ok now. I also submitted a complaint to BG and the technical manager reply was he couldn't understand why the engineer couldn't remove...

    Fitting second standpipe?

Hi, I'm planning to buy a dishwasher and I'm looking into how to deal with the waste. We currently have a single standpipe (as below). Can you please say what parts I'd need to fit a second standpipe to this? I take it connecting two waste pipes to this won't cause it to overflow though...

Tumble dryer using same socket as boiler?

Well thanks all for the replies. I find it quite worrying though that all of you electricians can't agree on something that seems quite simple. God knows how a consumer can come up with a decission if none of you can agree. Anyway i had an electrician around today to quote on an outside...

Tumble dryer using same socket as boiler?

Tumble dryer using same socket as boiler?

Thanks all for the replies. Is there any specific reason why you said change it to a double socket? Won't a double adapter be fine to use?

Tumble dryer using same socket as boiler?

When were those guidelines introduced? No Gas Safe engineer that has serviced the boiler has ever said anything. Is that be something i need to get sorted? Anyway, does that mean that what you're saying is that if i want to run the tumble dryer i should get an electrician to put a new...
