Help: Dealing with "hovering" chimney stacks!

Hi all, A survey in a house I am interested in, states that the chimney breasts have all been removed, leaving the part from the attic upwards, just hovering there and in need of support. The vendor cheerily thinks the problem can be sorted by Gallows Brackets (not sure about this, 1935...

OK, that makes sense. I have a feeling that the jobs going to be a one off and done whenever I get a few hours per day. I will look into the foam gun and balance off the costs with the aerosol stuff. Thanks again!

To noggin or not to noggin?

Complete noobie, so bear with this: Instead of Noggins, is it possible to apply thin (10mm?) sheets of WBP or Marine grade ply across the studs to give a flat surface and then whack on the plasterboard? I understand this will add 10mm to the wall and take up space. But is it going to provide...

Concrete Houses and PRC certification problems

PRC is itself thought to have folded in around 1995. But the mortgagers are still looking for PRC certification which doesnt make sense. Added to the fact that PRC certification was a 10 year guarantee?? So any guarantee given by them is long since expired.
