    Another bit of information which could negate potential blockage. Have tried the magnet test on all pipes in that area and no pull detected. I did this test 10 years ago and had several areas to replace

    Many thanks again for your very useful suggestions. Presently not at home but will be back around mid day. Pump was on 4.0 and PV setting. It shows the power setting but I don't think flow. Was also set on dynamic setting but turned this off.

    PROBLEM SORTED Many thanks to all who assisted. Problem was a broken shaft on pump valve hence the valve was floating around reducing flow. The system is quieter than ever.. I managed to use the bung method to good effect with blue tac although I did bale out the expansion tank

    Tony. Thanks for info again. But the valve will have to come off as it is not functioning. I had the problems you highlight when I changed the pump 6 years ago. I have partially backed of all nuts and all moved quite easily so fingers crossed
