Plasterboard adhesive to fill a gap when drilling

I’ve been drilling for brackets today on a dot and dab wall and the plasterboard opened up a big gap, 3/4 times the size of the plug…. I have some plasterboard adhesive lying around …. Considering I am hanging a heavy radiator, would it be ok to just shove a big blob of plasterboard adhesive in...

    What are these screws called?

Hi, what are these screws called? I am installing a very heavy column radiator using core fix plugs. The screws that come with the core fix don’t have flat heads, which I need to act as a washer effectively. Does anyone know where I can find the screws below… 3mmx100mm or 3mm x 90mm ideally...

Shoe cupboard and high skirting board

I have the tall skirting board (180mm) and I’m looking to get a new shoe cabinet Unfortunately the ones I like, the maximum height of the legs is 130mm, and I want it to sit flush to the wall rather than having a gap, because it’ll bug me every time I walk in my door and see a 18-20mm gap...

Drain valve in vertical cooper pipe

May seem a bit silly question, but is it okay to install a brass drain valve on a vertical copper pipe (using a T piece) that goes into a radiator valve? Or do I need to install it on the horizontal pipe run before the vertical?

Soldering brass drain valve into copper

Soldering brass drain valve into copper

Hi. I’m installing a new radiator and have bought anthracite radiator valves, I just think they look nicer than a radiator valve with a drain valve built in to it. As a result, I want to solder a brass drain valve onto a copper T, into the pipework Is it just the usual process of fluxing the...

    Draining radiators

If I just want to drain 1 downstairs radiator (to replace with new radiator and adjust pipework) and all of the pipework only, upstairs, do I just turn off both valves on all radiators upstairs and downstairs, therefore trapping the water inside the radiator and only draining the pipe work? Or...

Cutting and hanging internal doors a DIY job?

No, I was going to look into tools… probably worth getting a joiner in if it sounds like a hassle? What’s the going rate these days to install a door and ironmongery?

Cutting and hanging internal doors a DIY job?

As the title suggests, is it easy enough to cut and hang internal doors for a DIYer? I’m competent but never install an internal door before? If I proceed, do I simply measure my current door height and width, and order the size that’s closest to this? Looking at these doors...

    Hanging wallpaper on ‘fresh paint’

I’ve just painted the corner of a wall that is adjoining a wall that I’m about to finish off wallpapering (thought it would be easier to paint corner of wall before fitting last but if wallpaper so I don’t have to masking tape the wallpaper to paint). Wallpaper going where grey paint is (below...
