5 % vat on energy efficient

5% on anything that can make a system more energy efficient. So that's upgrading to fully pumped. Changing to TRV. Installing HE boiler. that sort of thing.

Is power flushing worth £200 ?

Not much. But registering an appliance with the dog firm is only a service offered. It's not against the law to fit one and not tell them. As long as U notify building control.

    air in system

Yes Yes & Yes. turn off heating and try venting rads.

    Sludge!

Poweflush. Taking rads off is so last century. Plus doesn't clean pipework or debris in boiler.

Whats wrong with out BAXI solo 3 pfl 30 boiler?

Reach for yellow pages. Is the boiler firing for hot water? if so then most likely cause is motorised valve somewhere. If it's not, and the fan is running then could be pressure switch.

    Corgi taking the P?

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for on the spot inspections. But it still won't highlight "cowboy" installations because they won't be registered. I've, this week, seen 2 flue installations which while they might not be illegal (although I'm sure at least one is) are in he least highly comical. I...

    Corgi taking the P?

I have been corgi registered since before it was compulsory and have always supported the almighty corgi. But even I am now starting to get hacked off. I recently had one of their supprise (sneaky) inspections. The one thing that they inspector picked up was a lack of lagging on the condense...

Choice of boiler - Alpha any good?

Alpha are ok. Just ok mind. They are made in Italy and are as good as any that are. Tho saying that the factory that makes them is the biggest boiler making plant in europe. The design is British. They changed to the Alpha name to differenciate between 2 companies. The heat exchanger looks...

    Tiled floor

Ok. So here's my new plan. ( I knew I shouldn't have started working at home.) I'm ripping up the floor. Lowering the whole thing by about 150mm. Fitting a sanishower pwaste pump. Taking the bottom row of tiles. Putting in a new concrete floor. Tanking the new floor and at least 300mm up the...

    Sanishower

Is there any other alternative to this product? My new shower outlet is lower than the soil pipe. If not I'll get on of these. TY.

    Tiled floor

Ok I've realised the error of my ways. I'm going to rip up the chipboard (&tiles)and concrete the area. Do I still need to use the rubber stuff on the floor? Or will swimming pool grout be ok?

    Solar question

Well no they were made from perspex. Not Pyrex.

    Tiled floor

I've just created a new shower room down stairs. The floor is green chip board. With a marley floor drain in it. I have covered the floor with floor tiles and sealed the wall tiles to the floor with a good quality silicon. Shower worked great, stuart turner 4 bar pump to 2 ceiling roses and 4...

    Solar question

Or hot glycol. When I was working for a solar company they ordered new pump stations with a sight glass in them. These were supposed to be made from Pyrex. But something got lost in the translation and the germans made them of perspex! PMSL. This resulted in quite a few, well all, of the...

Magnaclean filter for a Vaillant 828 combi

I doubt if anyone will reassure U of that. U may need to clean the system 1st. It's only a magnet not a miracle. But they are bloody good. I fitted one to an old boiler last year after changing a blocked plate heat exchanger and telling the customer that the system needed flushing. Even with...

    Solar question

I read somewhere this weekend that the amount of energy used to create the solar panels is approx 90% that produced by them over thier lifetime. Not sure if this is true. But worrying if it is.

I really dont think this is quite what I expected....

Can't believe nobody added your score up and didn't fit a back boiler. How odd. Mind I'll believe anything with BG.
