Semi-chased cables in kitchen - is this allowed?

Given what experienced electricians see (and there are quite a few commentators on here who are not) the triviality of some of the nit picking that goes on here makes me laugh out loud. Every day you will come across issues that are not or cannot be put in line with the regs. So, whilst an...

Semi-chased cables in kitchen - is this allowed?

Uhm, see what you mean (I think) - vertical run of cables to small gap between sockets. Regards

    Safety Information

Ignoring DIYers for a moment - what about the scenario whereby the line is live but the neutral/earth inadvertently broken - the neon screwdriver will pick this up - approved, two probed testers will not - a fact that I gave been greatful for twice. In addition, the fact that the neon...

    is this TN-S or PME?

Thanks EFLI and John. Doesn't the over sizing on the consumer side represent an outrageous waste of resources? Shouldn't the regulations which cover one side of the head also cover the other? And doesn't it make a mockery of the maximum demand calculations on the consumer side if the DNO simply...

    is this TN-S or PME?

Didn't phrase that very well. What size tails are required for a 100A head? If the answer to that is 25mm then how come the service cable into the house can be so much smaller, survive and be perfectly adequate? Regards

    is this TN-S or PME?

Thanks Westie - that's interesting. How do we reconcile the 1 sq inch in the street and size of the service into the house with the requirement to fit 25mm tails between meter and CU? Regards

    is this TN-S or PME?

Well, back on site today and coincidentally, contractors turn up three doors down to replace overheating, fused neutral, cut-out. He agreed to have a look at the cut-out where I am working and thinks that the supply was intended to be PME'd but they haf forgotten to link the neutral with 16mm...

    is this TN-S or PME?

Thanks for the interesting discussion guys. So, contact with the DNO shall be made - lets see (a) if they know (b) how long ig takes. Regards

    is this TN-S or PME?

So, can I conclude that this is TN-C-S (because the DNO has labelled it as such) or is it TN-S ? Thanks

    is this TN-S or PME?

Looks to me as if the DNO has been asked to PME but only done part of the job - cannot think why anbody would bother to fit braid with a clamp to the incomer and then terminate in an otherwise, unused Henley. Will have to ask supplier what they say it is - will update in six weeks or so. Regards

    is this TN-S or PME?

Cannot understand why somebody would go to the trouble of connecting the (later) braid to an unused Henley and label it as PME?I mean , the braid isn't even connected to the neutral - who would do such a thing and to what purpose? Regards

    is this TN-S or PME?

The green, sweated cable connects to the MET. The braid, connected immediately to the RHS of the cut out goes to the Henley - there is no other connection within the Henley. The Henley has a label which states PME - I doubt that tbus is correct - what do you think? Regards
