Extending outdoor supply, cabe type question

Thanks people. Looks like the junction I wanted to link from is a lighting ring, so am going to have to rethink my approach. Thanks for everyone who replied, learnt lots from the replies, much appreciated...!

Extending outdoor supply, cabe type question

So can I assume this kind of socket with integrated RCD would be appropriate? http://www.screwfix.com/p/nexus-2g-13a-rcd-switched-socket/91095 In which case I'm still unsure as to what kind of cable to use. Cabling will be secured with appropriate cleats.

Extending outdoor supply, cabe type question

Hello all, I'd like to extend an outdoor junction box by 10m, terminating in a 2-gang outdoor socket, to run a lawnmower from. Just wondering if this cable is suitable...

Vaillant EcoTec Pro 28 - what do I need for better timer?

No idea how to turn that off, sorry. On the upside I fitted the new Honeywell thermostat, as recommended above, in about 5 minutes flat! Thanks guys!

Vaillant EcoTec Pro 28 - what do I need for better timer?

Thanks everyone, this has really cleared up some questions I had in my head. Went a bit overboard last night wanting to get a WiFi web-based/iPhone accessible one but have decided to go with something a little more sensible, like the Honeywell. Just going to check the wiring then I'll...

Vaillant EcoTec Pro 28 - what do I need for better timer?

As above, got one of these with a basic timer on it and single wall thermostat in the hallway: But finding that it isn't flexible enough for me, would like more on/off/holiday times and I miss my 'boost' button, that would turn the heating on for just an hour. Is there any product I...

Torsion (box) shelving - MDF/baton width

Thanks misterhelpful, I don't know why 5cm thickness was fixed in my head, I think I've found a formula: I'm going to use 3/4" x 1 1/8" batons, with 12mm MDF. Total thickness should be around 42mm. They do some 44mm x 12mm which I can use to face, I'm hoping the 2mm difference won't notice...

Torsion (box) shelving - MDF/baton width

Morning all I'm building some torsion box shelving for the alcoves around my fireplace. The retarded thing is, I've done this before but I can't for the life of me remember the thickness of MDF/baton I used, it was years ago in an old house. I'm looking on the Wickes site but can't find...

Exchange old-style night latch for Euro cylinder lock

Hello all Is there any way of exchanging an old-style night latch door lock on a wooden door to a Euro lock? Reason being I'd like to have the lock keyed-alike with another, but the other door is a Euro lock. Just wondered if this is possible?

    Is this radiator thermostat broken?

So I suppose my best option is to replace thermostat with like for like. You've been most helpful gents, thanks very much, really appreciate it.

    Is this radiator thermostat broken?

Hello all Can anyone tell me whether this radiator thermostat is broken or not? Is a bit wobbly as you can see. Am not too fussed if it is - actually want to take the rad off the wall as doing some decorating, how can I make sure the valve doesn't suddenly open (apart from shutting off...

Anyone identify shower door manufacturer/supplier for me?

Gah, what a pain. New door and frame it is then, over a tiny piece of plastic! Just a quick bump just in case...

Anyone identify shower door manufacturer/supplier for me?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. A plastic part of a sliding hinge has broken and I haven't got a clue who the manufacturer of the door is. Rather than rip the whole thing out I'd rather just replace the part. You can see the broken bit here, at the bottom of the door. Where that...

Plaster or install double glazing first? (Video and pics)

Quick one here. Having the double glazing changed on the front of the house and there was a load of wooden cladding nailed to the wall to cover up (is my only guess) some bad plasterwork. Was done very VERY poorly (even nailed straight over the skirting boards!). I've removed it all but the...

Door not taking paint? Wood still damp?

Aaaargh! Wish I knew that before getting it stripped. Will just have to leave it out in the open for a bit longer. Luckily it's under a porch so hopefully it won't fall apart too soon :( Thanks for the tip anyway, much appreciated

Door not taking paint? Wood still damp?

Had my front door dipped and stripped about 2 weeks ago and thought with all the dry weather it would be ok to primer as I've been filling bits in here and there. It's an original door, must be about 100 years old. However, after I whacked a quick coat on I had a patch like this: As...

Thanks gents. Checking the frame the construction means that I'm going to have to build it all up with filler. Bah!

Where can I get wooden window molding? Or how can I repair?

I've got a small window pane (about 16cm across) in my original Edwardian front door and the molding's a bit of a state. Anyone know anywhere that has a range of wooden window moldings so I can try to get a decent match? If not can anyone give any tips on how best to repair it? It'll be...
