Bit of help on the regs

OK - I kind of know what I'm doing, but am not an electrician and therefore not fully up on the regs. I've trawled through various threads, and think the following statements are true, but could someone just nod their head or otherwise for me, please. I want to stick a plug socket in my...

I SAW A GHOST LAST NIGHT

This is also true - One night, my wife and I were sat in the front room and one of the cats came in and said something, very clearly, in perfect English. We both noticed it and remarked on how freaky it was, but neither of us can remember what it was that the cat said :? :?

    Extension Cables for Broadband Connection

OK - Thanks. So it sounds like cheap and cheerful extension for the current narrowband (actually the one I use at the moment, just rerouted) and then up to wireless come the revolution.....

    Extension Cables for Broadband Connection

Apologies if this is a daft question then, but does that mean I have to have the computer next to the main telephone point ? Or is this where wireless comes into it somehow ? Is there something wireless that effectively replaces the telephone extension ? I should know a lot more about this...

    Vintage Computing!

Gah ! I'd have come down here if I'd known about it, rather than have to give up forumming for three days. Could have talked about my ZX81 space invaders. The Invader was <x>, The spaceship was a half-block, inverted speech march, half-block. Invader appeared at a random place heading...

    Extension Cables for Broadband Connection

I am just moving my computer and need to run a telephone extension cable to its new location. The broadband revolution is yet to arrive in my village, but I figured I may as well be ready for it when it does. I think I'd heard that extension cables for broadband should be somehow fancier...

Is it possible to "go off" alcohol?

Nope - Sounds like you've got all bases covered. As an alternative, you could try telling her all about your vibrant on-line life, 5000 posts to one forum and Cyber-Friends. If that doesn't get her, nothing will :D :D

Is it possible to "go off" alcohol?

Also, as my wife never tires of reminding me, after 12 pints you're not actually as 'hilarious' as you think you are either....

    Most hospitable culture?

Working in France once, I happened to be in a meeting on 6th January. Something to do with 12th Night, the whole company stops work for a 'feast of the kings' at dinnertime. At this feast, everyone gets to have a piece of their special cake, and if you find a little china king inside your...

    Can a driver sue a pedestrian/dog owner?

This is quite a hazy memory, but I'm fairly sure that my Brother hit someone's (big) dog once, and the dog-owners household insurance paid out for the damage to his car. My brother felt a bit guilty about pursuing it like this, until he got the garage bill !

    Accident-Prone Americans

I've just come back from a week in America and, amongst other stories that I picked up whilst over there..... 1) Three people were killed when a light-aircraft crashed into a car 2) A greyhound bus flipped over, seriously injuring 34 3) Two American children are killed EVERY DAY by...

You're my wife now, Dave.......... Stanley Unwin is the one from Carry on Regardless. But Kenneth Williams can translate him to the others, as he's the linguist.

    More Trouble in London

Not me. If you look back to our first post together I said that I didn't agree with you, but wanted your posts left up as I felt others would feel the same (of course, I didn't realise how many there were going to be at that point). The reason I have not been contributing to these threads...

    Splitting Freeview Signal

If the Freeview box is connected to the video by SCART cables, would setting the video to AV1 not give Freeview at its RF output ? Then the kitchen telly could be tuned into that ? (This is a question, not an answer, btw.... :D - does a video player remodulate its SCART input is, a better...
