    Air compressor to test pipework

Point taken, on that note, can anyone suggest a decent test bucket for wet testing. I'd imagane the rothenberger one mentioned earlier in the thread should be pretty good. Anybody used one of these or any others they could recommend?

    Air compressor to test pipework

I dont know if any of you guys remember me asking a very simple question at the start of this thread? Since that post there have been 13 further posts, however not one of them has nearly answered my question. Anyone?

    Air compressor to test pipework

Air in the pipes pumped up to 3 bar? Water in the pipes up to 3 bar? What's the difference?

    Air compressor to test pipework

They will have adrain off facility at the end of the job but not necessarily during.

    Air compressor to test pipework

To be honest norcon, I've always thought that by the time you use water and a test bucket you may aswell just fill it up. Also you then end up with water in pipework drops etc which you then need to get out before you can work of them again. You're right about unsoldered joints though.

    Air compressor to test pipework

Thanks Dizz, But this and a footpump is already our current method. When we are doing a full house install we sometimes have to test the pipework 10 to 15 times in the duration of the contract (when builder wants to close walls, put down floorboards etc) and pumping it all up by foot over and...

    Air compressor to test pipework

Hi Chaps, Can anyone recommend a half decent 110 volt air compressor or similar tool for testing copper pipework before filling. I used to have a mechanics compressor but it was a bit bulky to be lugging around jobs. Thanks

    Problems with Stelrad

Thanks ChrisR for taking the time to post all that. It has certainly given me something to think about. And there is a water softener fitted, but the f&e tank fills from the fresh water. I double checked this on Thurs when I was there.

    Problems with Stelrad

It does sound a bit odd doesnt it? For a long time after the builder finished this job the customer witheld a large sum of money from him for all sorts of questionable reasons and on 8th December he still owed the builder the best part of £20k. The customer told me yesterday that BG came to look...

    Problems with Stelrad

Will do Micky, the customers seemed pretty p****d off that I had noticed that other work had been carried out. I dont think they realised that I would be able to tell.

    Problems with Stelrad

Oh and I have also spoke to the head of technical at Everflux, who is very annoyed at Stelrads claim and will be more than happy to put together a written statement saying that there is no way that their product would eat through steel.

    Problems with Stelrad

Hi guys, I visited the house today to check if the system was pumping over and it wasn't. However when I was there I noticed that the pump, pump valves and one of the zone valves weren't the ones that we had installed. I asked the customer if anyone had drained down or done any maintenence...

    Problems with Stelrad

Hi again guys. Agile: I am under no illusion that I will walk into court and they wont be able to prove a thing, this is why I am speaking to you guys to try and get some advice on how to build a case in my favour. Ive already stated that I dont disagree with using X300 in the flushing...

    Problems with Stelrad

No, I havent told them actually. I'm sure the only response I'll get is some scripted statement about how they cant comment on other manufacturers products.

And the piont that the Purmorad is still intact, and the towel rails, only adds to my arguement that it is a problem with the Stelrads.

    Problems with Stelrad

Hi newgasinstaller, In spite of HOW the flux or oxygen got to the point in the system where the rads were coroded, do you not think that a lump of steel should be able to withstand flux eating through it within a year?

    Problems with Stelrad

Thanks Expertgasman, I agree and feel that this will be the case. I am going to contact everflux and have them write a letter as previously discussed. With regards to supplying and only making labour, I would never put myself in that position either, I always put between 10 and 20 percent on top...

    Problems with Stelrad

Hi Chaps, To answer all your questions and respond to advice and statements made: Agile: I dont disagree that x300 does what you say (removes flux residue) however I was never taught to use it as part of the commissioning process and have always seen it as an option rather than...

    Problems with Stelrad

Hi Guys, Thanks for all your posts, the flux I used was everflux. I have always used this flux and the same commissioning process as stated in the original post and never had one radiator go like this on me before. I will certainly take my own water sample and ask everflux to provide me...
