    Using Water from a Well

Yep Dairy Farm. The drilling was done by a guy based in County Cavin. Not sure what name he goes under, I'll have to hoke out the invoice. I have no intention of moving and if I was selling up, I'll be putting my feet up and taking it easy till I go to my grave :D I've noticed today...

    Using Water from a Well

I live in Northern Ireland and I got the well bored and fitted less than 2 weeks ago. I was lucky and only had to go 45ft till rock was hit and then further down to 60ft till a supply of 1000-1500gallons a minute of water was reached. My neighbours got wells bored at the same time and they...

    Using Water from a Well

I got myself a well bored due to my outragous water billls and someone mentioned to me that well water is bad for plumbing systems for that type of water will eat away at the system. for example I know several people told me in the past that well water is very bad for power wash systems etc as...

Query regarding wiring of phone extension cord to socket

I used a multimeter to identify the cores and yes the two outside cores did the job. Cheers for the help.

Query regarding wiring of phone extension cord to socket

It's one of those flat extension kits you buy to run along the floor and gather up when you are done with it etc. I understand what you mean if the cores are multistrand which they are but I thought the connection of the wires he made would be good enough especially when you have to give the...

Query regarding wiring of phone extension cord to socket

My neighbour is trying to hardwire his extension phone cord to the mastersocket but is having problems to do with the cable colours. Since its an extension cord, the 4-cores are red, blue, green, white. He tried various combo's with 2 & 5 of the mastersocket but no joy. Does anyone know what...

    Inductive Proximity Switch

I'll give that a shot since I have access to the connector wires which I need to bypass the sensor. I know that there are relays when you mention them and there is a very big chance that the sensor supplies the power to it. I hope to clear matters up tomorrow.

    Inductive Proximity Switch

I will have to find out if a 400ma sensor is required but I wonder how easy it is to identify that. I have checked out RS but if I need a 400ma then they don't have much to offer except for one which is 2-wire which might have to do. 400ma sensors are limited to find but you have all the...

    Inductive Proximity Switch

Sensor is located above each axle and a pin on the center of the axle passes over the sensor to identify when wheels are aligned straight. Wheels have to be aligned everyday, well depending on daily use and its a pain having to bypass sensor with a bit of wire.

    Inductive Proximity Switch

Sorry for not getting back. I had to take a quick flight and only getting around to sort this out, now that I am back. Anyhow I have come across several sites that sell them but I don't seem to spot the correct one especially the 400ma ones. Now my understanding is the sensor requires...

    Inductive Proximity Switch

RS is the place that I can find one which seems to match what I am looking for but it is only 2-wire. Like mentioned in a post above, 2-wire could be fine. I might have to take a chance with this one and hope for the best. RS Stock no. 285-712 for those interested. Just to mention...

    Inductive Proximity Switch

It would be a relay logic. Sensing distance would be between 5-10mm. I could travel up the country, 80-90mile to get it but you would have to pay an arm and a leg. I might end up going that route.

    Inductive Proximity Switch

    Inductive Proximity Switch

My current proximity switch got damaged and I need a replacement and I am finding it difficult to find one online. I did find one but it was a 2-wire switch and the one I have is a 3-wire switch. At the minute I can bypass the switch by looping the live to the return wire. The 3rd wire is...

    Light circuit tripping RCD

It's a TT system with one of those old time black crabtree RCD trip switches. No rating on it. There's another Type C RCD switch beside it which I presume goes to the outside electrics as I have motors in use but can't confirm as the connection to the armoured cable is hidden. Must be...

    Broadband extension

What's the reason behind using 6 core's for phone extentions? The last two house's I was at sorting out broadband had 6 core cable used in the house with all the 6 cores connected at each of the face plates. If u only need 3, what is the point in using the other 3?
