The houses in my street and surrounding area were built without any roofing felt - just bare slate tiles. With all the cold weather and heating costs going up I am obviously thinking about ways I can make my house warmer. A new roof would be great but this will be several years down the line...

So why is it no body else I know seems to have this problem? Especially as very few people I know have tumble dryers. I never notice mold, damp or damp smells in other peoples homes that I visit. It seems very bad in my house.

I actually have an old fashioned rack at the top of the stairs, and also two maidens also on the landing where I put my washing to dry. Wet washing does not go in any of the damp rooms.

Well I always tend to use beading anyway to hide the gap after I've laminated. My 'under the plinth' unsure-ness was more about getting possible laminate gaps at some point in the future, as of course I recognise the benefits to this also. (Is this possible with the click stuff anyhow?) Ta.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is not thick anywhere, just a greyish shean on the tiles, not to bad in some places and pretty bad in a few places.
