    MEM MEMERA 2000 Consumer unit

Didn't think it was that bad! Apart from the fact that pods are available, is it any different to adding RCD protection for a 3036 protected circuit in the same way? Or is it the choice of materials that you don't like?!

    MEM MEMERA 2000 Consumer unit

Pods very expensive though. Last time I came across one of these boards i just routed the two circuits I was working on through two Contactum RCD's in Gewiss enclosures.

Received kit with European plug, can they do that?

Thought this arrangement worked well.

    Test Leads

Before I shell out, does anyone know if Kewtech test leads... http://www.sercal-testequipmentsales.co.uk/kewtech-acc064-g7-compliant-distribution-board-test-leads-606-p.asp ..are compatible with the Fluke 1652? Cheers.

    wall chasers - any good?

I've got the Metabo chaser and use James (Henry's relative) for dust extraction. Had to adapt the hose with the Metabo attachment though but easy to do. Pretty much no dust, only when I slip with the chaser :? I do find that I can't be bothered to get it out of the van sometimes so out...

    QUIET CEILING SWITCH NEEDED

I've got one of these in my bathroom and I have to say, while it's not silent, it's pretty quiet compared to what I imagine you are talking about. Does buzz a bit when the lights are down low though...

    My First TT

Went to a job today to install an extra socket. System is TT and I've not worked on these before so just wanted to check my assumptions. A quick Zs at an existing socket before starting work gave me 284 ohms, carrying on testing (using method 2 for earth electrode testing) it seems as if the...

    CU Upgrade and Storage Heaters

Just a question regarding the best set up for new CU's when storage heaters are still in use. The existing set up is the standard two Wylex boards, one for storage heaters one for rest of property. Would you fit two new CU's and also an isolator up front for the whole installation or is...

    dimmer pull cord

Fine if it has an over-run timer otherwise it will likely slow down and speed up with your dimming.

    MCB Tripping

Must have quite a lot plugged in to the rest of the circuit if the cooker trips the breaker every time it's switched on? (presuming it's a RFC on a 32A). Not right agreed but a common set up and doesn't usually cause any problems, maybe something else amiss...?

Stuck between a rock and a hard place

If you don't then how will it be adequately protected by an MCB sized for 4mm²? p.363 of the red book? But lets not start that again.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place

Nothing wrong with this in principle. I've just done a 2 bed flat with the lounge and 2 beds all on their own 20A radials.

    Join Radials at Consumer Unit?

Yep, fair enough. I don't assume anything anymore ... far too dangerous! The other day found a ring with a third cable coming into it at the board. Initial thought that it was a spur... no. Then thought maybe someone had put it in the wrong breaker as next to it was another 30A 3036 with 1 x...

    Join Radials at Consumer Unit?

Consider safe isolation of individual circuits. What would you think was going on if you went to a job to fault find and found two 2.5 in the same breaker and then started testing e.t.c? A spur from the board is okay but not anything more (please don't start the "what is a spur" debate...
