Hot water cylinder not getting to temperature

OK, I will separately try pump on 3 and opening the cylinder return gate valve a bit - anticlockwise I presume.

Hot water cylinder not getting to temperature

OK will try that, presumably I just need to make sure it doesn't cause venting into the HW feed tank in the loft?

Hot water cylinder not getting to temperature

There is a gate valve on the lower pipe that comes out from the cylinder, presumably the return from the heat exchange loop (the top pipe goes in about half way up and has a bleed valve on it also).

    Alarm bell box servicing query

OK, I thought that if the bell box detected that hold off was still present it would just tell the control panel via tamper, then the control panel depending on mode would decide whether to then invoke the strobe/siren.

    Alarm bell box servicing query

Hi, I have a Ventcroft Compact Classic bell with a CK 700L control panel. If I remove the screw on the bell box which then activates the tamper microswitch the bell goes off and continues to ring, regardless of whether the panel is either unset or in engineering mode, is that correct and...

    New consumer unit

I haven't lifted the cover to check how many circuits there are and don't want to remove power at the moment, unless its safe to remove cover and leave main switch on? Could you confirm once complete I should get a electrical install certificate straight away from the electrician and a...

OK, Did not realise you can get 6 and 8 way dual RCD, just googling they mostly seem to be 10 way and 350mm+ wide and only have 290mm where existing unit is.

Socket in Loft, safe zone query

Thanks. When you say tick for the lights, I presume that means I CANNOT spur from one of the new loft sockets? EDIT - Got your response, so I can do this, OK. Good point, it may just be easier then to place a socket near to the loft hatch and put in a plug with a 5A fuse going to the...

Hi, I want to provide power in my loft to power a PC server, ethernet switch and additionally run power down to a socket I will mount high on the bedroom wall for a TV. I've taken a spur from a socket on the ring main, attached this to a switched FCU next to the socket and then taken a...

Bathroom extractor fan pull cord switch broke

Wow, thanks for the quick replies chaps! I'll try and find somewhere local selling a DP pullcord switch... Thing is, why is the extractor fan switched like this but presumably the light switch just uses a single pole one like I purchased?

Bathroom extractor fan pull cord switch broke

Hi, The pullcord switch for our bathroom extractor fan has broken and needs replacing. The switch directly controls the fan turning it on and off, it has no timer. I bought a new 2 way 6A pullcord switch thinking this would be OK, but on looking at the existing switch it has black+red...
