    Zoombrowser: problem connecting to hard-drive.

I have downloaded Canon Zoombrowser EX, version 6.5, to my new PC which has Windows 10. Seems OK, except it does not like the hard-drive in my custom-built PC, called New Volume (S) where all pictures and documents are stored, as opposed to the C-drive, which is a 250 Gb flash-drive, for quick...

    Samsung Tab 4 wi-fi problem.

In the end, I shut the device down - long press on the button, left it for a while, then re-start. It had not been shut-down since I bought it 5 months ago. The wi-fi now seems to be working OK again.

    Samsung Tab 4 wi-fi problem.

Jaysta, thank-you for your reply and advice. The Bluetooth works fine. I cannot find the settings in 'Advanced Settings' on the device to change from Auto to 2.4. I think I may visit my local PC/Tablet repair shop later this week, they may be able to show me how.

    Samsung Tab 4 wi-fi problem.

I have a TalkTalk router, and an HTC phone which gets 54 Mbps wi-fi when near it. However, my new Samsung Tab 4 has 'signal strength - weak' and only 1 Mbps wi-fi when near the router. Is there some way of improving this? The 'Manual' on screen of the Tab 4 does not seem to have any info. on...

Heating pipe: Leak in concrete floor.

Thank-you all for your replies, most useful. House was built '64, so pipes been in floor some time....I shall try sealer, hopefully get me through to next year. Then look into replacing ground floor rads., with new drops from pipe-runs in first floor, which may need up-sizing. One thing leads...

Heating pipe: Leak in concrete floor.

My C.H system is open-vented type. A pipe-run in the concrete ground floor is leaking slightly, the floor surface is wet. From tying-up the ball-valve and measuring the drop in water level over two days, I worked out it has lost about 8 litres in 48 hours. Is there a possibility, that Fernox...

    AVG

mattylad, AVG is only on it, as that's what my repair-man loaded onto it. I put Avira on my desktop, with Sunbelt firewall, shall probably put them on laptop as well. I had thought of using Microsoft Security Essentials, but know little about it.

    AVG

My free AVG updated itself last week, however I also managed to unintentionally install AVG Secure Search, it opens with Internet Explorer, and I don't think its really needed or desirable. Take care when you update!!

    TomTom Start 25 sat nav..

Going on hols. in May to France and Germany, so I bought this today, reduced at Argos. It has maps for Europe, however when I tried to get a route from home to Paris, nothing happened - it could not find Paris. Does this indicate a fault with it? According to its 'settings' Europe maps are...

    Adding a second wireless router.

My phone line comes into downstairs hall, then to a permanent cable from that socket to socket in upstairs room. A short extension runs from here to the TalkTalk wireless router, with my main PC is connected by cable. The wireless signal downstairs is not very good, as it goes through 3...

    Ford Focus 1.6 petrol 2005.

Yes, it seems that 'Windscreen' position means the AC is on, a Ford habit it seems! Getting the new pollen filter in really needs two pairs of hands! I had to undue the fasteners for the fuse-box frame, hinge it down, and then pull it forward of its mounting bracket. Then, had to unbolt...

    Ford Focus 1.6 petrol 2005.

alan333 and Spark123, thanks for your input, all useful. I do hope it is not the heater matrix that is blocked... :(...sometimes happens on older cars.

    Ford Focus 1.6 petrol 2005.

AlanE, thankyou for reply and the link. I think, once the glovebox is out, that also gives access to replace the pollen filter at the same time. I shall look on youtube, bound to be something.

    Ford Focus 1.6 petrol 2005.

Burnerman, thankyou for reply. No climate control, and I wondered about stuck relay, but I can switch it off, then it comes on with ignition, providing the blower fan is not set to 'off'. Most odd. I had not thought about the pollen filter, yes shall sort that soon, plus a new heater...

    Ford Focus 1.6 petrol 2005.

Just bought this motor, my first Ford in 30 years!! Seemed OK on test drive, 90,000 on the clock, but private sale, so no guarantee with it. On the ventilation fan, the lowest 2 speeds do not work, and even on the highest setting there does not seem to be much 'draught' from the air-vents...

    Car-tax refund

When a car is sold now, tax cannot be passed on, and any remaining tax is refunded to the seller. Does anyone know, can this refund be by internet banking, or is it still paper cheques? Reason I ask, its not obvious from DVLA website, and daughter is selling car tomorrow, then moving house just...

    vertical cracks in new build

I have cracks in some inner-leaf blockwork on an extension completed a few years ago, so searched here for views and comments of others. I found several threads on the topic. Since it seems that these lightweight blocks are very prone to cracking, and as ^woody^ wrote, 'fussy in terms of the...

    De-crapifier for new laptop.

Astra99 and flameport, thank-you for your swift replies and advice. I shall have a look at what is on it later today, then ascertain what is 'surplus' and will not really be needed.

    De-crapifier for new laptop.

I have bought new HP laptop today. Anyone know, is it worthwhile running 'PC Decrapifier' on it, to remove unnecessary software? I have not used it before, and from a search on-line there seems mixed views on it. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
