I put some x400 in, as a last throw of the dice, and it seems to be working. the boiler is definitely quieter. but it seems the flow temp is lower, I need to check but on the face of it it would appear to have improved the flow to the point where the boiler cant keep up with the heat being taken...

the rad in the hall has both valves wide open. I think theres a bypass just after the pump that was fitted with the unvented. the boiler stat was on max.

is the differential ok at nearly 20c?

also Victoria plumb do a thermostatic one you can adjust the centres on. my problem is the holes are rather large that were drilled in the bath to ive goto use some large washers and plenty of silicone.

ive got a coral premier with an rm stelflow unvented. I cant see why you need limiters if the max working is 5bar and your mains is 4bar. there is also a pressure reducing balancer on the unvented which usually takes the pressure down to 3 bar. so if you do fit a limiter I doubt youll notice...

the original problem is that the boiler is kettling.

shouldn't be, but who knows. I thought the pump should have pushed the air out, unlike when it was reverse flowed and the air kept being pushed into the heat exchanger where it got stuck until the pump turned off, at which point it would just sit in the pipe work until the pump turned on again...

also noticed a water trickling sound, in the pipes above the boiler, during about the first 30mins.

I was heating our hot water tank. if theres good flow whats causing the heat exchanger to boil at the bottom? thin walls? burner pressure?

bummer. could a knacked pump do the same? Im gonna try a different one at the weekend. if it is blocked whats likely to shift it?
