    Moving house etiquette/obligations

Well I lost all the holes I took with me instead of leaving them. Perhaps some replacements could be purchased on E Bay.:D

And if OP is renting, who would know whether he had taken them with him?

    Connector bloc

You are correct Securespark. Sorry, and just for completeness, I was looking at the 13v power circuits (not tamper which can be sorted with ins & outs on a normal choc bloc.) All sorted with links and sharing choc bloc.

    Connector bloc

BAS Or even something like an earth connector block bar but covered like a choc bloc.... Fancy a joint presentation to the dragons?

    Connector bloc

Looks like a choc bloc strip with links will suffice. Thanks anyway for your thoughts.

    Connector bloc

Is there anything available like an earth connector bloc-bar, but that is protected with insulation (like a choc bloc) to enable 10 single core cables to be connected together.? Suggestions or signposting please.

Wiring to illuminated cupboard in bedroom

If I understand correctly, your lighting circuit for cabinets is irrelevant to the proposed mirror cabinet The fuse in the FSU is to protect the cable; if you are using similar cable to the lights as to the 2gang socket, then another is not essential. Hope you are considering safe zones...

    Uneven filler

Brilliant choice---it does not set hard. You need a bit of plaster board to fill the hole. If possible screw it to a joist where the original fitting was fixed. If no support available, yYou need a piece of plaster board as wide as the hole to fill, and a bit longer. Affix a string tail, apply...

    False dormer gable

Many thanks, that is a good explanation. Roll on a sunny day.

    False dormer gable

I think it may be referred to as a Scotch Valley, with pitching plate and creeper rafters. I am guessing that the valley is then formed by thin ply boards and overlaid with felt, and lead sheet. I presume the lead sheet is tucked under the edge of the felt. Then battens are fixed with slates on...

    False dormer gable

Thanks. I am sorry but further external examination or photos will have to wait for better conditions. It looks like a plain sheet of lead. There is very little to see in the loft. This has a trussed roof covered with felt and all that is visible are two thin ply lengths that run where the...

    False dormer gable

No chance. (Scared of heights in this weather!) I did not realise that mortar was needed on the valley surface.

    False dormer gable

Thanks. It is the actual roof. The valley and gutter are clear of debris. The valley discharge area looks to be shaped OK, but I do not know what type of valley is installed

    False dormer gable

Dormer Gable by TonyW2 posted 23 Jan 2017 at 3:32 PM Photo added in case my terminology is incorrect. Rot has occurred in the fascia behind gutter end and on the "box end" and barge board of the gable part. The verge has been repointed.

    False dormer gable

Help please. I have searched under everything I can think of, but cannot find a framing diagram and valley layout for a false dormer. I am just trying to understand what is going on with my existing one that is causing rot on the adjacent roof fascia. Could someone please point me in the right...

    Extending BT socket

Whilst doing this job, it would be a nice introduction to telephone wiring and enable you to get rid of the trailing micro-filters if you replaced the bottom half of the face plate with an "adapted filtered face plate." (£10) This gives you a face plate with a filtered phone socket and a router...
