    Can uPVC windows be altered?

Theyre meant to be tall windows with a view out onto the fields. I wanted a thin bar down the centre so they wouldnt feel to modern, but its a wide bit of plastic obscuring the view!!!

Knock down garden wall by roadside

Thanks guys - useful info! To clarify: 1) I live in a conservation area 2) The wall is about 750mm high 3) Woody's right, the water company sprayed it blue because the stopcock is not properly shutting off. Funnily enough, it also marks the end off where I want the wall down, so we would be...

Sound proofing a wall - does quote sound reasonable?

ok ok, my bad, I didnt appreciate there were different ways to soundproof a wall. Theyre going to make a stud wall and fill it with 75mm of Rockwool and then attach acoustic plasterboard to that. I guess materials will be about £200(?) which leaves about £300 for labour.

Woodburner with horizontal flu building regs

Sorry for slow response. Ive decided to completely take down the chimney breast and have a freestanding woodburner. The flue would then go up vertically and then diagonally through the exterior wall and up above the roof line. I would be getting a HETAS approved installer to do this. Do I need...
