Do i need this flue pipe ?

I'm always a little wary of people who dismiss information as nonsense without reference. This quote is from the Worcester Bosch plume management kit MIs "The terminal end can be positioned up to 45° either side of the central position, for plume re-direction." This one from a Corgi...

Do i need this flue pipe ?

Hi I'm sure I've read that the flue outlet of a plume kit should face the same direction as the inlet. Something to do with air pressure differentiation. This may have been for a specific model however. Does anyone know?

    Pivot shower door

Hi Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a 800mm pivot shower door where the hinge of the door can slide along the horizontal to a chosen pivot point (230mm from the edge in this case). This is required to fit into an awkward bathroom shape Thanks.

    Shower tray 3 walls

Hi I'm trying to work out the best way to replace a 900mm square shower tray tightly fitted and tiled down. I believe originally the room was built around it. Ive only ever fitted trays against 2 walls with 2 open sides. The old tray will break out easily enough. My problem will be getting...

    O Rings on mixer tap

Hi I hate the throwaway society but I find with these taps its best to replace them. The exception for me is if its an expensive tap where specific parts can be obtained from the manufacturers. Even so a replacement can work out cheaper

    Hot water pipe on right.

Hi Doesn't your picture show the hot water pipe labelled on the left? As long as the pipes only feed the shower you could swap them over. If its possible you could always temporarily turn the shower upside down first and check you are happy with the performance.

    Length of plume management kit

Thanks for that Tony. I'll get on to Viessmann and check their maximum extension length. I only want to go up about 3 meters. I'm told the same direction bit is to make sure there is no pressure difference for the flue inlet an outlet which makes sense. I assume 45* either way wouldn't alter...

    Length of plume management kit

As a general rule does anyone know how long the maximum extension on a plume management kit can be from the original horizontal terminal of a combi boiler. Also I have been told that on a Viessmann plume management kit the outlet must be on the same wall and point in the same direction as the...

    Electric combi boiler

Hi Someone asked me today about the pros and cons of an electric combi boiler as they have a downstairs flat and no real option of fitting a flue terminal outside. Apart from being expensive to run I know little about them. Do they work like a gas combi or are they more like an unvented...

Looking to start up on my own?

Hi I started out about 6 years ago. When I started I intended to buy a van. Still havent bought it. I just use my ageing Ford Focus and get any big heavy stuff delivered to site. Mind you I work fairly local. Such an approach may not suit all people but the Focus is easier to park and doesnt...

    Single 2 port valve

Hi My friend has an old Potterton Netaheat system boiler. It is controlled by a single 2 port valve meaning the hot water must be permenantly on. There is also no room stat just a timer control, pump and of course the heat setting on the boiler. The valve packed up. For a short while it could...

Boiler in Loft is a Risk?

Hi You seem to infer that the boiler has been At Risk for 2 years running. How did you overcome the first At Risk classification?

    Viessmann Vitodens 100 poor heat

Hi This morning my Viessmann at home is sending the central heating water from my boiler at 62*C. The dial is not at maximum. The flow pipe from the boiler is too hot to touch. I have 6 radiators on at present. My house is warming up nicely. These radiators are too hot to leave your hand on...

    Viessmann Vitodens 100 poor heat

Hi I'd be interested to find out if the radiators run too cool, or if they run at full temperature but this is still not hot enough to heat the church. If you are unable to measure the temperature of the radiators I would establish whether or not the smaller room and the cloakrooms get warm...

    Bristan Bliss 9.5 Electric Shower

If the showers are externally piped you could swap the one that is not working with one that is. This should help you eliminate whether or not it is the shower at fault or the plumbing. If you're lucky you might find they both start working. Of course if you're unlucky....

    Bunnyman

Hi Bunnyman I don’t suppose you remember writing this back in 2010 about a Vaillant Thermocompact that would not ignite. "Check the vantage connector lead which if not being used is usually tucked behind the pump. The auto vent leaks water down the back and shorts the plug out. C if it's...

Neighbours boiler safety becasue of my new build.

Hi An interesting thread. I can see that if the porch wall had been built and next door had then been injured or worse then Mr Porch (and/or maybe the architect and builders) would be facing a difficult time. However, now next door know that the boiler flue distance is incorrect and could be...
