"Power Leakage" on Remote Fed TV Booster

There is only 1 cable, but it is obviously taking the UHF/VHF signal from the amp to the PSU and the power from the PSU to the amp! The radio is probably connected to the VHF (and TV in UHF) - I'm not at home so couldn't check, but presumably it'd not work at all otherwise. I have always...

"Power Leakage" on Remote Fed TV Booster

I have a Labgear remote powered distribution box which I've had about 4 years. However, I am already on to my 3rd PSU and that one I believe is on it's way out. My set up is as follows: 1 TV aerial mounted on side of house externally (upgraded since buying amplifier) we are in a poor signal...

OK to seal OSB with Bitumen?

I get that it is not decking. My understanding is that you are trying to protect the OSB bit that will stick out from back of the shed (and sides?) from rain. My thought was to cover it with DPM, then a couple of decking boards to hold it all down and make it look tidy.

    can o worms garage

Is it a standalone garage or connected to the house? If standalone, I'd be very tempted to tear it down. I don't know if the technology has moved on in recent years, with regards insulation etc, but might be worth considering a pre-fab, unless you can brick-lay yourself.

OK to seal OSB with Bitumen?

How about sheet DPM, covered with offcuts of decking board around the edge?

    Unexpected manhole

Thanks. I am going to try and get a survey done this week. I think I am no resigned to needing to have something inside of the extension, though my biggest question mark is how this will work below a block and beam floor. With the insulation, screed and UFH pipes going down on top, it...

    Unexpected manhole

So... groundworks due to commence on my double storey extension in place of conservatory. Removed the conservatory carpet to see some crumbling self levelling screed and some DPM sticking through. A tap with an iron bar and soon found I have a sealed manhole there. The pipe runs straight...

    Bath pipes

Thanks all. I have been up to do this work now. Thought I would share my experiences and photos and ask for a bit further advice... First, I replaces the 2 old isolating valves with some full bore ones from my local plumbing shop. The intention is to take the handles off and keep them...

    Bath pipes

I am changing the taps on my bath to a mixer with shower from individual taps. Currently, the tails from the taps are 22mm copper (TBH I think at least one might be 3/4" not 22mm) which connect to isolator valves at floor level previously hidden in some boxing which I have removed as it was...

    Foundation Advice

Thanks. As long as Building Control are happy for me to mix the two foundation types, I'm tempted to stick with the piling...

    Foundation Advice

Hi, thanks for the replies on this so far. This is where I am a month and a bit on: Designs received for a piled raft, consisting of 6no. 8m open-bore piles with a 225mm cast-in situ raft constructed on stop of Cellcore and tied to the piles. Have had a soil test to 10m to check...

    freezing bedroom over double garage

If the house is only 9 years old, there should be insulation between the garage and the bedroom. We had a similar situation and found that there was absolutely nothing between our garage and the room above. That said, our house is about 24 years old. It sounds like you have plenty of...

    Critique my design

Is the kitchen you have drawn on existing, or part of the new extension? Are you going to have it open plan? It appears there is a stud wall between the kitchen and your extension? What is the L shaped extension to be used as?

    Foundation Advice

Am worried I may have made a wrong choice when dealing with my Architectural Consultant regarding my foundations. Firstly the job: Double storey rear extension to rear of a late 80's or 1990 built house. (Tarmac Homes), in place of existing conservatory. Footprint of extension approx 4m x...

    Veritas R8 Plus Can I...?

Thanks guys but this has gone right over my head. If I made it a 24hr zone, are you saying that the key switch would be used to disarm it? Would the key switch go near the panel? Regarding the external bell, would that not go if I have part set only?
