    supply voltage

I think my supply voltage is too low, or at least the voltage drop on the incomming circuit is too low. - joging by the fact that the lights in the house dim when ever anything is turned on! eg hoover, wastedisposal, hot tub. i was thinking of turning everything on and seeing if i can measure...

    BANG!!

I think the solution to this problem is to wire houses by looping the live in and out of the light switch, then all you have is a single bit of T+E at the rose (2 if it feeds more than one light)

    3 phase

Well in my situation 3 phase would just seem more practical, we have a 3 story house and a few high load things like hot tubs. Oh and it would be fun :) lol

    3 phase

I am interested in having 3 phase installed into my property. The nearest 3 phase supply is in the foot path 15m infront of my house. Anyone know roughly from experiance how much this would cost? My existing supply is 35mm concentric cable running through civil enginerring duct, would they...

    Alarm wiring!

The sad thing is it was the electricians who put it in. the thing that worries me is if somone wanted a socket in that room, of which are none, they would think the FCU is on the ring and take a spur from that to a socket. Breezer, are you saying there is a reg that disallows this?

    Mercury lamps!

I am about to install one 80watt mercury lamp outside on its own circuit. Its fed by a 10m length of swa and Teed off to a 10m length of 2.5mm swa. The T is so i can add another light later on. My question is as this is a dedicated circuit, what size breaker should i use? i know the lamp in...

    Gas pipe bonding!

The MCB rating is 50amp. its about 20m away. Although 16mm is overkill i wanted expandability so i don't have to dig up the patio (again)!. The 16mm swa feeds another CU near the hot tub. This cu is in a IP56 box and will feed a few other things in addition to the hot tub. The hot tub shall...

    Gas pipe bonding!

the 16mm swa is going ot feed a submain outside for a hottub! i used 16mm because of the voltage drop. The thing with putting the earth clamp back is it looks ugly! lol I'll have to think of a better way around it!

    Gas pipe bonding!

sadly not! the bond is in the way as the 10mm cable runs where just under the consumer unit. it is a bit of a challenge getting 16mm swa into the cu with a 10mm earth wire getting in your way

    Gas pipe bonding!

Hi, In my existing installation the gas pipe is bonded in 2 places. One bond is in the meter box outside, and another bond is on the otherside of the wall as it comes into the garage. Are both these bonds nescercerry? The second bond is getting in the way of my new consumer unit, so if it...
