    Shelving joints?

Thanks big all, basically I have a place which is ideal for a welsh dresser. But, I'm nowhere up to building a dresser. So I'm basically trying to just build something like the upper part for the wall. That is 2 shelves, and below these 3 spaces for either 3 boxes or 3 baskets. 6x1 shelves, 7x1...

    glueing wooden panels?

very helpful. I got my last wood from b&q. The reason is ... when I bought wood from a merchants a couple of the lengths they cut had either a knot missing near the edge of a board leaving half a hole, or a couple of little bashes in the sides which I then had to try and hide so the bits...

    glueing wooden panels?

thanks big-all. this is something that messes me up sometimes. I operate in inches (my upbringing) so I draw my ideas in inches. Then I get to the shop and wood is in mm's! Then I have to borrow a measure to see just what I am looking at. To make life easier for myself I'll draw my plan up...

    glueing wooden panels?

Hi again, just looked up some router dowel jig stuff on the tube after reading your post, interesting. Jigs as the one you suggest are cheap enough for me to give it a try. Just checked screwfix as I have one locally but they don't seem to do them anymore according to the website. I'll check my...

    glueing wooden panels?

cheers gregers. now, without a jig, I'm not sure I could drill holes square. If a hole isn't square (if you know what I mean?) I could get in a right mess when it comes to inserting dowels! could you recommend a dowel jig, perhaps the one/s you use?

    glueing wooden panels?

Hi all, my next project is a kitchen shelving unit. It will be the same size as my other kitchen units so 12" deep, and approx 36x36. Rather than using 12" panels for the sides I thought 3- 4x1's would look more in style with the other units. If I used 4x1 pine would glue alone be enough to form...

    router question please.

Yes I've seen the dewalt model. At the moment I'm trying to get lots of gear together and of course prioritizing involves making my limited funds stretch as far as I can. The bosch kit is around £140. Thinking about what I plan to make next, will the bosch be able to rabbet 1" thick panels in...

    Laying laminate.

Hi all, while laying laminate flooring I've realised that one end of the room is nearly 2" wider. I've just put 3 rows down. Is it best just to run the boards parallel with the longest wall or is there something else I should be doing? The final row will run along a wall including a door.

    router question please.

good info big-all. The bosch palm router can come as a kit with some attachments that might be handy for me. But I will look at some 1/2" routers as well.

    router question please.

thanks gregers. I have handled a few routers in shops (not switched on!) and they weighed a ton! Again hence the idea of a palm router. But I'm sure that would restrict me eventually. Lots of research is needed. Hiring a router might be a good idea.

    router question please.

Hi, I'm guessing that would be the answer too. I don't want to make rash buys so I'm still thinking carefully about routers. As a beginner I'm attracted to the palm router because it looks simpler than other routers to handle. But then I'm sure gonna want either to make or buy a router table...

Can the bosch palm router be used with a router table and dovetail joint jigs?

    Frustrated with cuts!

Hi guys, I've just put together 2 shelving units for the bathroom which as they are my first projects they look okay. (only problem was getting square edges.) The thing is I have at least 3 projects in mind, a hi-fi cabinet, a TV stand/shelves, and a kitchen shelving unit. I've been asking...

    circular saw blades.

Hi again, can you be flexible when choosing a blade in terms of diameter? For instance, I'm looking for a 184mm fine cutting blade with a 16 bore. There aren't many choices! Can a 185 or 186mm blade be fitted? Also, is 40 teeth fine enough for laminates e.t.c. or do I need to increase to 60-100?
