if no room stat onj your second zone it will be controlled by the boiler stat (if older tpy ewill cycle on / off boiler stat) - when you say boils over, do you mean like steaming and then you hear a gush of water going down the cold feed to replace the lost system water? if so sounds like...

you def have a combi boiler? no hot water cylinder? other things could be plate heat exchanger pinholed and causing mains water to force primary water up through tank and out of overflow....

so you put in an open vented combi boiler? what's the water level in the hedaer tank when system is cold?

sounds like an expansion vessel problem. Have you checked the air charge in it?

Hi I have the fault finding DVD set - it's OK, teaches you how to test parts using a multi meter - the second disc gives you notes which add a bit more info - it's not bad for learnign some basics. But you need to get hold of an old combi and test parts yourself to learn better in ym opinion

you'd be better off fitting a new stopcock after the old one as suggested (if space allows) - on the copper pipe
