    Leaking shower

I’ve got a problem with a Showerforce thermostatic shower control valve. There’s something clearly broken with it as when I turn the control knob I can feel it sticking and jumping. When you try and turn the shower off it won’t always fully close and drips. I have to keep turning the shower on...

    Toilet Soil Pipe Connector

Thanks for all your replies. I had to use a slightly shorter flexi pipe which was a much better fit and had no kinks in it. Cost me £10 and thanks to the advice on here took no time to fit it all. Working perfectly now!

    Toilet Soil Pipe Connector

It was definitely the kink in the flex pipe causing the blockages. The photos don’t show it very well but it was about a third the diameter it should be. All other pipes are free flowing now so just need to replace the flexi I think.

    Toilet Soil Pipe Connector

The pipe also seems to have a separate collar (see photos above) on the end that connects to the waste pipe going to the drain. The photo below shows the brown waste pipe just behind the tiles behind the toilet. Is the white pipe part of the flexi connector and do I need to pull this out and...

    Toilet Soil Pipe Connector

Morning all, Ever since we moved in to our house we've had an issue with the en suite toilet blocking up. Yesterday the same thing happened and my other half decided to use a plunger to try and free it up. The pressure of her using it must have been too much and the toilet started to leak...

Sand run off under artificial lawn

Many thanks for the reply. The garden originally had a very slight slope towards the area where the problems are. Next doors garden is probably just less than a foot below ours and departed by a fence which I suppose acting as a retainer for the original soil. I suspect the new boards used to...

Sand run off under artificial lawn

I have a large patch of artificial grass at the back of my house. One side of it is contained by some thick wood beams due to the fact that the other side of it slopes away in to next doors garden. During the wet weather we’ve been having I’ve noticed that the top layer of sand appears to be...

    Brick gate post on Tarmac

We have a long Tarmac drive that meets the cobbled main road by the side of the house. We are going to have sliding 3 ft high gate across the entrance but after digging out the plans for the house it would seem that every water/gas/electricity pipe in the world runs under our drive. The Tarmac...

Problem with Vaillant ecotec plus 831?

Hi, Yes it's been serviced. I've read the manual again and it says that if you have an external controller like the one in our hall then the target flow temp should be set to the maximum 75 and the boiler will adjust and compensate. This probably explains why the temp reads in the 40's and 50's...

Problem with Vaillant ecotec plus 831?

I have the above boiler which was installed about 2 years ago and we've never had an issue with it. It's installed in a cupboard and today I noticed something on the control panel. The central heating is set to a target flow temperature of 75 degrees. However the display shows around 48 degrees...

    Quotes and VAT

Many thanks for your reply. I've told him that I don't intend to pay him any more that he quoted. He says he will forward it all on to hmrc and I will hear from them. I'm not entirely sure what they can do about it since it's his tax.

    Quotes and VAT

Hello, I need some help from traders on here as I'm a bit confused. My father needed a garage splitting in half to create a utility room. I used rated people to find a local builder who came out and measured up and sent me a quote of £1350. This included some other bits that were written on...

    Water Feature

I'm hoping this is the right place for someone to help me. I've got a 6 foot long planter that I have waterproofed and turned in to a bit of a water feature. I want to add a fountain but obviously it's very long and narrow so the usual circular fountains are no good. Ideally I want a long bar...

    Room Thermostat

Thanks for the quick reply :-) your suggestion is what I thought I could do. The red is a permanent live and when you click the thermostat to on it send the power down the switched live to the boiler. I can just bridge the live wires like you say and connect yellow to number 4 :-)

    Room Thermostat

But i tested the red and it's a permanent live so why can't I use this for the new receiver?

    Room Thermostat

Hello, My dad currently has a Honeywell T40 dial thermostat that is now in the wrong location due to a house extension. The plan is to change it for a Horstmann HRT4-ZW wireless one so he can pick where he wants it to go. I thought it would be a simple changeover but the old Honeywell has...
