    very fine random hair cracks

Newly restored ground floor. New plaster, left to dry, mist coat, Dulux Trade Supermatt. Looks beautiful. Now, six months later very fine random hair cracks have appeared on walls & ceiling. Question is do I just repaint over, working paint into cracks, or should I try some very fine...

    Rain penetrating ridge tiles.

No. He removed all tar and existing ply then re-laid new board etc. The new grp roof isn't leaking but water is getting in under the ridge tiles. cheers

    Rain penetrating ridge tiles.

Thanks datarebal. Do you think roofer would come back & do that without charging me again? About 1/2 pint of water ran down our wall in severe conditions. It only came from one point so it may be a gap in the barrier. Thanks for your ideas.

    Rain penetrating ridge tiles.

A professional roofer did the job. It was felt & pitch before but he recommended this for a longer life.

    Rain penetrating ridge tiles.

The only barrier is the mortar under the ridge tile. I have now re-mortared at bottom of tile where it it sits on GRP. I think a puddle formed & the wind blew water through new mortar. Tried to send a pic before mortar. http://www.diynot.com/network/Peterade/albums/ Thanks for helping.

    Rain penetrating ridge tiles.

Yes, the ridges are bedded directly onto the GRP roof. New roof has been up 6 months & withstood a lot of rain in the past but recent intense rain with strong winds have shown a problem.

    Rain penetrating ridge tiles.

Had a fiberglass topping to my loft flat roof last year. On Monday the drought rain found it's way through the ceiling. Examination showed the ridge tiles had very little mortar at the bottom so the laying water was pushed by the wind through the gap. I mortared the whole row of ridge...

    wallpaper peeling at edges

So, I've now done the work. The paper was painted with emulsion so needed lots of damp sponging to make supple. The paint trick sounded clever but didn't have enough tack to keep the paper on the wall till it was dry. I got a tube of bonding compound intended for sticking wallpaper...

    wallpaper peeling at edges

I have a hall which is painted white over lining paper. The paper is fine but it's peeling at edges about 1 1/2 inches. Is there a way of re-pasting the edges so when I re-paint it won't look so bad? Any ideas please. Thanks

    Halstead Eden CBX 24

Halstead Eden CBX 24 Was working normally with no issues. 1 1/2 bar. Then it stopped & red reset light came on. On doing reset, the red reset light has turned to flashing blue & the four leds are on. Does this signify a PCB burnout? Any ideas welcome.

    Painting MDF

I have some MDF cupboards & under the stair cupboard panels which are raw. I understand from this great forum that I should seal with Rustins MDF sealer but do I fill screw holes first or seal first? I want to finish with Dulux Satinwood. Grateful for any tips. Peter

    Final coat paint reccomendation?

So I gather form this great site that new plasterboard/skim is best painted with Dulux Trade Supermatt. Question is, having done mist coat, & first coats with Supermatt what would you recommend for the final coat? I want white matt for ceiling and silk for the walls for kitchen &...

Denisen flooring on a wet heated floor

I'm having wet underfloor heating and will have a screed on top & intend flexi-gluing wood to screed. I love Dinesen (Danish) wood but it is solid Douglas however they mostly supply to underfloor heated houses. I've been advised to only use engineered wood. Has anyone used Dinesen...
