    Wasting my time?

Thoughts on putting a porch here, planning permission excepted (within 2m of highway) i just want some space to hang coats and keep shoes, plus i think it would add bit more character to the front (obviously it would be in keeping with the style of the house) any thoughts on design /...

    Bloody Skirting!

The gap along the join at 45d is rather large - c.5mm I'd say. Too big for filler?

    Bloody Skirting!

Hi all, I desperately need some help cutting some external skirting joints. I think the angle is around 86 degrees but I cannot figure out how to cut 2 43 degree angles. I have a manual mitre saw that cuts from 90 through to 45 but I need less than 45. To save countless trees, as I'm...

    Advice - Painting / Plaster

The opposing wall has the same issue but the silk paint is not peeling (I could easily peel it off if I wanted), is it better to pull it off or paint over it here? Bearing in mind it's not started peeling anywhere.

    Advice - Painting / Plaster

Hi, i'm trying to correct a mess that i've inherited from the previous owners of our house. i have silk paint over bear plaster which has essentially formed a sheet of paint which, with very little encouragement, peels off the wall. What we have been trying to do is paint over it...

Max load for 2 brackets (curtain pole)

Pole is plenty study enough - I think two brackets with decent fixings should do it, just thought there may be a sought of weight threshold where 3 are needed. I guess anything >200cm would always need 3?

Max load for 2 brackets (curtain pole)

Hi all, Roughly what weight and span would I need a third central bracket? My pole is 185cm and the weight is 4.5kg, would 2 brackets cope?

Thanks for the idea! I'm not trying to have it fit for a king, just a reasonable finish will suffice. Hopefull your solution will give this 😊

    Solution needed

i can't, i remodelled that area of the kitchen and the worktop has remained in situ. taking it off would mean taking the sink out and countless other tasks.

    Solution needed

trouble is i can't get my handheld circular saw all the way along the cut because the wall gets in the way - would it make a crap cut if i finished it with a hand saw?

    Solution needed

i am fitting an end cap to a worktop but there is a slight complication, the worktop runs slightly long than the wall it butts onto, see below - should i cut it down, leaving a lip, and bend the lip round the back of the worktop edge? also, is it best to hacksaw it down to size...

    Cutting wavy edge tiles

I'll post a picture later. It's the end of a run where the last tile meets the end of the wall - probably need a quarter tile at most. I could cut it straight but the cut edge would be exposed at the wall end.
