    Replacing Imperial Garden Tap question

Hello, I hope you are all well and thanks for looking. I want to replace our imperial garden tap with a metric one that complies with current regs. The old tap screws off leaving a nut attached to a short piece of pipe sticking out the wall. See pic. I am incapable of doing anything other...

Please could I get some advice on this light switch wiring

I've uploaded a pic of the back of the switch now. I am guessing I can run a wire into that connector block where the black wires are joined to give me my neutral. I am also guessing that the single red into L1 is the switched live that goes to the light fitting. does that sound right? Hopefully...

Please could I get some advice on this light switch wiring

Thanks for all your replies. I do see black wires behind the switch. I think I'll draw a nice diagram to understand what I am seeing and then if I really understand it, I'll have a go.

Please could I get some advice on this light switch wiring

Hi there, I've just come to replace a light switch at my dad's place with a mechanical light timer, something I've done a couple of times at my own place but am confused by the wiring. My Greenbrook timer needs: 1. Neutral from mains and Neutral to appliance 2. Live in from mains 3. Live...

Wanting to replace an old PIR without rewiring

Thanks for taking an interest. Ive attached a pic of the controller and it looks like yours. We just have one PIR and one light. I imagine technology has moved on in 20 years. Could you recommend a controller and PIR that a DIY'er like me could swap in to cover a patio about 10m x 4m? best...

Wanting to replace an old PIR without rewiring

I need to move the PIR at the back of our house as a conservatory has been added since it was installed. It's a 20+ year old Racal Guardall and links up to a control unit that has ability to switch light on/off or via the PIR. As the cables are deep under laminate floor I was hoping to extend...

CH system really upset since new rad fitted and drained-refilled

Hi Jeff. That réponse was in world record time - thank you. I asked the British Gas engineer if there could be something blocking the 15mm cold feed where it joins the 22mm vent pipe and he was a bit dismissive telling me I wouldn't have been able to refill after the draining downs if it was...

CH system really upset since new rad fitted and drained-refilled

Our CH system is really upset since we replaced a radiator a couple of months ago and neither my plumber or British Gas can fathom the cause. I am hoping someone might have some advice for me because it is really testing my sanity. Our CH system is open vented and has been fine for 9 years...

Advice on British Gas thermostat please

Thanks TCC Heating. That explains a lot - I've been adjusting the temperature up and then pressing SET thinking it will somehow make the desired temperature 'stick' - instead its been knocking it back to the low pre-set.

Advice on British Gas thermostat please

Hi TCCHeating Reading posts on here people say the british gas thermostat is in fact a Drayton Digistat. I've downloaded the guide for a Drayton Digistat 30002/RF601 and that looks and behaves exactly like ours. thanks for your help

Advice on British Gas thermostat please

Hi there, I am having a running battle with my wife over the thermostat at the moment and wondered if someone could settle the dispute please. The unit has low and high presets which I think mean: 1. once the high point has been reached, there is no point twiddling the dial further because it...

Where to get exterior door fittings that won't rust?

We've got a small octagonal summer house which came from Amdega (since bust) and the hinges, handles and catches which were originally shiny brass have all started to rust - so I suspect they weren't good quality and not solid brass. Can anyone recommend a supplier of high quality brass...
