    Two fan wiring

It sure would, except that I've spent quite a lot on ducting for 100mm (insulated/acoustic etc) and having to drill bigger holes and re-duct will be a pain in the backside.

    Two fan wiring

Hi guys, At the moment I have FAN1 setup with a 4 minute timer. I wanted to increase Pa (air pressure) so have decided to throw in a FAN2 with no timer that will run in a serial configuration with FAN1. I would only like FAN2 to run when the light is on. I would imagine putting L -> L and N...

    Neighbour dispute over vent

heh; thanks for affirming my sentiment. So, now I have received a letter expecting us to seal it off by the end of the week or 'further action' will be taken. Not sure what he means by that but so far he doesn't really have any standing; the council won't do anything. Will a solicitor be able...

    Neighbour dispute over vent

Thanks woody. The nearest window is about 3 metres away and the nearest door is also about 3 metres away. The vent itself is at least 2 metres above the ground. I have never seen him open the window facing us in the last 5-6 years he has been living here. Read the above with regards to smell...

    Neighbour dispute over vent

Ofcourse not. His men were even on our roof, I didn't really worry too much over it TBH. If I have to remove the vent, he has to remove the felt. I did suggest that to him and he went into a rage, and when I mentioned it's my wall he felted, he jibed something along the lines of "your wall is...

    Neighbour dispute over vent

Hi Everyone, Both me and my neighbour have extensions; they are very close together (maybe a few millimetres apart). My extension is taller than his. Yesterday, I decided to drill 100mm hole straight through my wall; it will be used for ducting. The hole is facing his side but is above his...

    Cut straight through core cable

You are completely right. I didn't even know I had triggered the RCD or that I had eaten through a cable; it wasn't visible at first. That was until I realised the oven lights were off and the isolation led wasn't on, and here I was blissfully unaware, shoving metal ducting pipe down the hole...

    Cut straight through core cable

It 'was' vertically aligned with the isolation switch but that was moved.

    Cut straight through core cable

Hi, Thanks for the link; its in the yellow zone, right above the hood. It was buried about 5mm into the wall and tiled over though. I do suspect a re-route too as it is not exactly in a favourable position being vertically above the hob. Although, initially I had thought the fitters had...

    Cut straight through core cable

Hi, Sorry, 2 core + 1 E. It sure is an older house; the isolation switch used to be on the back wall of the hob; it even got charred a few times due to hot pans. We were told to move the switch away from the hob hence the confusion.

    Cut straight through core cable

So I was going to drill a 100mm hole above the kitchen hob hood for venting. Did an analysis and figured there would be no wiring running down from the ceiling in that particular region (due to a new fit and my mum insisting the fitters had re-routed the cabling behind the bottom cabinets)...

New patio door dimensions do not match

I would like to purchase a new patio door; I measured the length and width of the door from the inside and it reads 2100mm (L) X 810mm (W). Now when I look at doors at wickes/b&q they tend to read higher than the measurements for my door e.g. The width of the doors is 840mm, that is 30mm...

Multi speed settings on impact driver

Is there any point for impact driver with several speed settings ? I can understand in a combi drill but impacts are used for screwing so surely you'd want to do it as quickly as possible ?

    Impact bits on combi?

Hi Guys, Is there any point in using impact bits on a combi drill ? I have a BHP459RFW with hammer, drill and screw. Also, any tips on controlling the drill when using larger bits ? I have found that the drill will literally twist which in turn gives me an aching wrist.

Thanks for the reply guys. Yes, the base rail is wider than the stringer.

    Trouble with renovating staircase

thanks for the reply. Basically, the timber is the same size as the baserail, the rail is too long so I used the timber as an example. Basically, the rail would have to be nailed onto the string right ? If so, will I have to pad it up on the sides with some plywood or something ?
