Advice needed for fitting a pump

Hi JayJay I didnt trust myself with the blowtorch near the foam insulation so used an Essex flange in the end. It was a easier to fit than people were making out. Yes the pump is going in the airing cupboard.

Advice needed for fitting a pump

OK im half way through this and have come across a problem while trying to install the surrey flange. There appears to be a threaded reducer screwed into the top of the cylinder which is stuck fast. Have tried a spanner up to the point where it felt like the cylinder would bend. Any ideas...

Low Flow head for electric shower ?

Share a shower, it worked for us! :D seriously though, £160 a quarter seems a bit steep, even with the shower. We pay £160 a year for electricity (2 people, work during the day, energy efficient bulbs everywhere, appliances not left on, etc. gas shower though) a 10 minute shower each at...

Advice needed for fitting a pump

I didnt realise the Salamander CT50+ was a cheap pump, it seems to have good reviews. If you can recommend me a better one then im all ears. As long as the pipework doesnt cause cavitation, I cant see how a long suction run can reduce the lifespan of the pump

Advice needed for fitting a pump

I've read a few other posts here where powershowers have been "Tee'd off the bath taps" rather than having a dedicated feed and have "got away with it" So that got me thinking about another option. If I put in a smaller pump, such as the Salamander CT50+ and locate this in the 2nd bathroom...

Advice needed for fitting a pump

OK Cheers Kev. BingoBongo, they are just standard mixer valves, i can find out make and model, but dont really see how that will help. The problem is a general lack of pressure in the gravity fed system, made worse by quite a long run of pipe to the 2nd bathroom. Hmm i wonder what is...

Advice needed for fitting a pump

Hi Kev. Yes it is just the showers that are the problem. The work involved in just pumping the showers is quite large. But your advice would be to get a pump which could do both showers, run a seperate feed from the cold water tank to the pump, and a feed from a surrey flange or similar for...

Advice needed for fitting a pump

Hi guys. Need a bit of advice about a shower pump. My parents have now got two bathrooms in their house and its on a standard gravity fed system. The pressure on the shower in the 2nd bathroom is appalling, and the 1st one isn’t much better, and it looks like I’m going to have to go and sort...

Silicone sealant not sticking to bath

Hi Gcol Er, probably didnt wait that long after using the meths, but did wipe it all up with a cotton cloth, so im pretty sure it was dry. Not sure of the sealant manufacturer until i get home, but it was a general purpose sealant from a surplus store and ahem it was cheap.

Silicone sealant not sticking to bath

Title says it all really. Removed old sealant with some sealant remover / knife, cleaned whole area with meths, allowed to dry, filled the bath and resealed, but in places it looks like the new sealant hasn't adhered to the bath (I can slide a fingernail underneath it in places and theres...

    How much loft insulation?

Hello everyone, 1st post. Have recently moved house, and up in the loft is 75mm of fibreglass material. I think the modern regs call for 270mm, so im a fair bit short. My question is, how much difference will taking it up to 270mm make? is it worth doing? And if it is worth doing, what is the...
