    Fitting new toilet

I thought that would probably be the case. Unfortunately i'm not tiling, it's going onto a varnished wood floor. If i get the plumber back my guess is he'll drill another hole in the wall which will start to look a mess on the outside, so thinking of making a wood plinth for the toilet...just a...

    Fitting new toilet

I'm in the process of putting in a completely new bathroom. The plumber has done all first fit work. I've just started to connect the toilet and it would seem that the hole the plumber drilled in the wall is too high. It's at quite an angle so i've got a 102degree connection from the toilet but...

soil pipe: surface to ground connection?

Also... my mains water pipe runs directly beneath the downstream pipe. Building control will be coming in to pass of the work, does anyone know if this is going to cause problems?

soil pipe: surface to ground connection?

I'm in the process of installing an Inspection chamber...going well so far but i'm wondering about the soil pipe connection...the pipe runs approx 1.5m from the chamber, then i've got a bend to take it to the surface (brown plastic pipe). This is an adjustable bend with female connectors at each...

    wc to soil stack connection?

Thanks for that. I WAS missing something obvious then! Just out of curiosity, does either have any advantages? also any tips on lining up? Presumably i need to get the wc hole in wall before fitting the soil pipe.

    wc to soil stack connection?

i'm planning on installing a new bathroom and soil stack, i've seen a few different connectors. The toilet will come through the wall approx 1.5m from the stack. Is there are reason for one vs the other- Y/T into the soil stack? Surely a T would require a 90degree connection which wouldn't allow...

    Old pipes??

1 more question: does the IC need to be a minimum depth?

    Old pipes??

Thanks again for your advice. I've been having another look and located both ends of the gas pipe which are totally disconnected. The rusty pipe has a 5mm hole in it and nothing leaking so that must be redundant and the copper water supply is 22mm so good news! I can crack on with the digging...

    Old pipes??

thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure the copper pipe is the current water supply as the entry point in the house is directly in line about 1m away. I hadn't looked at the shallow access chamber. Is there a definition of 'shallow' how many risers can i attach to it before i should be using a...

    Old pipes??

another question... I understand that the minimum depth for soil waste is 600mm does this mean that the soil pipe needs to go this deep when it meets the ground or can i fit a slow bend and run the pipe sloping to the iC?

    Old pipes??

just looking at the IC design again: http://www.wickes.co.uk/drain-chamber-base/invt/435228/ I should be able to position this over the water pipe, just wondering how i'd lay it and if BC would be happy with that? It would still help if i could remove the rusty pipe. Thanks again.

    Old pipes??

Thanks for the replies. I think i've worked some of it out but presents a slight problem, so ideas welcome. I've attached a picture of the hole and pipes: Main Drain Copper Water Main Grey Plastic Pipe (old gas supply) Last year we had a suspected leak and they replaced our supply pipe from...

    Old pipes??

thanks for the quick reply with suggestions. The electricity comes in above the front door on the other side of the house. The house is about 150yrs old so lots of time for things to be replaced.

    Old pipes??

I've dug a hole to install a new inspection chamber for a new soil pipe i'm installing. However there's a couple of mystery pipes which are a bit in the way. One is quite close to the surface (approx 25mm) and very very rusty, the other is much deeper (approx 60mm) and doesn't look rusty so i'm...
