    SKYPLUS AND SKY MULTIROOM

Hi Wizards, My local firm in Leeds appear to know what they are doing but I thought I would run a check with the experts. I have a flat in Headingly. Unfortunately it only has one cable and therefore I have not been able to get SkyPlus or multiroom. However, my local firm say that I can...

    Inhibitor Renewal

Hi JohnD, That's a brill idea! I'll get a test kit and if it shows everything okay that is fine. If not, then at least I'll know I am doing the right thing in draining and re-filling - and I won't make the same mistake again. Thanks for all your help - greatly appreciated!

    Inhibitor Renewal

Hi JohnD, Thank for that. The thing is everything I have read says you should not mix different brands and obviously there is something in already hence the plain to drain it. How often should it be renewed in any case?

    Anti Freeze

Many thanks, everyone, especially Onetap. I think I could go on Mastermind now with it as my specialist subject. I won't be touching the stuff - unless I'm out of cider!

    Inhibitor Renewal

Hi JohnD, It is a sealed system. He definitely put some in but I think he 'borrowed' it from his employer (the council) so he hasn't a clue what it was. Says he just put in what was lying in the van!

    Anti Freeze

Hi Guys, Am I missing something? Why is it not standard to fill all central heating systems with anti-freeze? Also, can you put inhibitor, anti-freeze and a leak preventer all in a central heating system?

    Inhibitor Renewal

Hi Wizards, The plumber put inhibitor in my system when my house was built. Unfortunately, he doesn't know what type he put in so there is no question of topping up. How many years should I go before I drain the whole system and refill with new inhibitor?

Sensor to switch on garage lights

Thanks very much for your advice guys; it is appreciated. I can see it is complicated enough to warrant getting my electrcian back. He is a top tradesman so hopefully with two different sensors experiencing problems he will give it a thorough examination. Many thanks again.

    BROKEN BALL COCK

    BROKEN BALL COCK

Hi Burnerman, The arm is actually plastic. How would I identify the replacement parts and where would I get them? It says on the tank lid Polypipe Kitchens and Bathrooms although that may not refer to the inside works. It is not so much an economy drive as past experience - Great...

Sensor to switch on garage lights

Hi Mathew, No, the garage door has no connection with the sensor. It is quite independent.

Sensor to switch on garage lights

Hi JohnD, I'm not sure what a relay box is but there is a fuse box in the garage. Also, the electrcity meter is in the garage, the garage door is electrically operated and there are a number of electrical sockets. Any use?

    Should I cover air bricks?

Thanks JohnD, I'll take my plastic bags off and maybe just block the two vulnerable air bricks during frosty weather. The pipes are actually insulated with that tubular polystyrene which slides over them so hopefully that will help. Thanks again.

    BROKEN BALL COCK

Hi Xr4x4, The blasted thing has broken with a small part of the arm blocking the hole into the ball. This may be getting ridiculous but I thought about trying a 'splint' onto the 'entry tube' on the ball and on to the arm and taping it. Anyone out there on the floor laughing yet?

Sensor to switch on garage lights

Mathew, Thanks very much for that. The truth is that I don't know but I think I know what you are getting at. The garage does have four big fluorescent lights. I have the leaflet for the sensor. Is there any information I could post from it which would help?

    BROKEN BALL COCK

Hello Wizards, I have a flat which is lived in by my son and daughter. I know nothing about plumbing and they know less. Recently, the ball cock broke away from the stick in the cistern. It looks as though the water is therefore constantly running down the pan. I thought it would have had...

    Should I cover air bricks?

Hello Wizards, I built a new bungalow about five years ago - plastic piping under the floorboards with that foamy stuff round the pipes. Two lots of pipes looked to me to be vulnerable to frost so each year because they were near an air brick so I put a block in front of the air bricks...

Sensor to switch on garage lights

Hello Wizards, I think this will be a difficult one. I had a sensor installed to switch the lights on in my garage when I drive in and to stay on for a few minutes. It was installed by a top class electrician. It worked great for a while but then the light began staying on. The...
