    Bathroom spur plan - okay?

I have a 2.5mm2 cable going from upstairs ring into loft via bathroom. Historically it runs a double socket directly off of it and an extractor off of that. I plan to use this as sole fused spur for bathroom, so ring to fused spur outlet outlet to double socket then I want to run new...

    Bathroom remodel with internal insulation

Do I have to use 12.5mm cement type board or can I go thinner as I notice 6mm is available. Perhaps it would be advisable to use 12.5mm on the PIR insulation, but an internal wall in the shower will also need boarding, so maybe I can use 6mm here?

    Bathroom remodel with internal insulation

Reposting as no responde on building forum. As a first step I am going to insulate the standard 215mm solid brick wall construction bathroom with 2 external walls. I propose to insulate with 40mm PIR bonded with PU low expansion bonding. In the same way bond 12.5mm (cement based) aquapanel...

    flattening a wall

I have a wall of new bathroom refit that I intend to tile where it hasn't been previously. The wall is out of flat by 10mm max. It is painted with a silk emulsion on a sound plastered solid internal wall. Can I key this and skim flat with one coat plaster prior to tiling? Just that I have a bag...

    Toilet resite

I thought it was a fair bit more than 1:40, 1:20 still isn't much. Anyway, 1:40 is easier still.

    Toilet resite

Hoping to move toilet to the wall without the stack. New route is thru wall and 90 degree as typical, then 2mts to corner of original house, 90 deg round corner, 3mts to stack. I say original house as actually it isn't a corner anymore as there is a lean to extension, so the first 2 mts will go...

Bathroom remodel - back to brick

As a first step I am going to insulate the standard 215mm solid brick wall construction bathroom with 2 external walls. I propose to insulate with 40mm PIR bonded with PU low expansion bonding. In the same way bond 12.5mm (cement based) aquapanel. Strategic timber will be placed to take the...

    two ring mains joined

I've recently moved to a house that seems to have a separate ring downstairs in an extension that is joined to the upstairs ring. It doesn't seem to be extended as typical ie breaking the loops and inserting more sockets, rather it is a separate ring but joined to the upstairs ring at two...

    Internal Insulation Plan

About to insulate solid walled house room by room. Here is what I plan to do. Main walls: Leave existing sound plaster on the walls Chase plaster for ring main extension and extend 1st fix. Vertical batten main walls with 25mm deep x 50mm top to bottom at 1200mm spacing. In-fill with 25mm PIR...

Dot Dab Celotex, then bond plasterboard

I'm about to start one of several room insulation projects. Having done a little in the past, my preferred system is to dot and dab rather than batten Celotex or similar. However, in order to keep the costs down I'd like to use separate insulation and plasterboard (ie not plasterboard backed...

L1B 'Renewal of internal finish to external wall' & 25%

Pretty much how I read it, thanks for that. I do find the docs ambiguous though, so a second opinion is appreciated!

Yes standard 50s solid brick wall and the outside is inside the garage.

L1B 'Renewal of internal finish to external wall' & 25%

Well yes that is what I was hoping to do, hence the question as to clarifying what "renewal" means. I think the plaster is sound though out, but haven't given it an extensive knuckle rap all over yet. Another point from L1B seems to suggest that if you do a renovation room by room as is...

Ah but, as you haven't answered the question, so does that mean you wouldn't have spotted it?

L1B 'Renewal of internal finish to external wall' & 25%

No sorry, that was misleading. This is proposed work on a new purchase. I just meant that going through conveyancing and having to sell mine, focuses the mind somewhat.

L1B 'Renewal of internal finish to external wall' & 25%

I am currently in the middle of conveyancing, I think it is at this point you're at your most (this kind of) risk aversed! I am also of the opinion that so long as what you've done isn't very bad and what you've done isn't easy to prove then you're unlikely to get any comeback. However, I'd...

L1B 'Renewal of internal finish to external wall' & 25%

The phrase "Renewal of internal finish to external wall" appears in document L1B in reference to upgrading the U value of an external wall when the degree of refurbishment reaches the "Renewal of internal finish to external wall" level. What exactly does this mean? I take it to mean, if...

    Permitted Development of this?

So yes then, thanks, that's good news. I appreciate the 'significant' start required. In my case I guess it will be completed foundations. The roof can wait, hopefully not until the flat roof fails! Seems you can get quite a lot for the reasonable £170
