    Basin/Bath Blockage Conundrum

Hi All. Sorry this is long. Just wanted some suggestions/ideas about a problem we have. So from time to time I have had problems with either, a slow draining bath after pulling the plug out (and sometimes when the plug is pulled out water is drawn up into the basin sink, before then flowing...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

For those who might remember, it’s a while ago. I finally finished the window seat I asked for help with. Have never made anything like it before and with help from some on here am happy to say it turned out brilliantly. Very pleased with the seat and booster cushions I made too. So all in all...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Thanks Loofah. So I’m planning on leaving the inside pretty basic so not sealing off the back it bottom. Like you I’ll be using the carpet remnants for the inside floor. I guess with ventilation, it’s where to hide it on this project. Luckily I’ll be making my own cushion cover having done...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

This is great and nice to see pictures. Looks ideal. Will check out furniture board, but may well leave open and (as Loofah has done) use the carpet remnants as a floor covering. Thanks again for your input.

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

So this looks great. Nice job. Yes I’ll be making the cushion cover for mine as well, so the top will be covered too. From what I can see you have two openings to the top? I may do this too to lighten the load overall. Yes pretty much making it up as I go along too, in some ways it’s better...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Ok. Great ETAF was wondering if they cut mdf or not. Yes that would be my problem no more local BnQs here either since they closed two that were close by. So specifically with regards to BnQ cutting narrower pieces. Because I have the window sill above as said, I need to ensure that the hinge...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Sounds great ETAF. Not sure my skills could stretch to drawers and yes need to maximise storage as they haven’t got much in their flat.

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Thanks everyone. ETAF. My seat/storage will really only be used for storing items that don’t need to be on show but still need to be stored, so the opening and closing of the lid will be pretty infrequent, unlike your toy box, so if yours has held hopefully this will too. Notch7 yes I did a...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Thanks. Yes here’s a picture. Have just been reading about pilot holes for plywood edging, so thanks for that. I’m going to be putting some additional timber where the black lines are to support the door and pull the area where the lid will pull up away from under the window sill. So as...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Ok. Does that mean it’s impossible? Does mdf hold screws better? Any ideas?

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

That looks lovely. It’s being made for my newly married daughter and son in law and they’re on a budget so the kitchen worktop is probably a bit beyond budget. If the hinges I’m intending to use have a 270 degree opening and there’s a window sill behind and using plywood so not heavy like a work...

Gap around DIY Window Seat Lid. And Number of Hinges?

Hi All. I am making a window seat with some concealed storage and having fitted and made the frame I am now looking at the top and lid(door) for the storage compartment. Never done it before so have a couple of questions. First. How much of a gap should I leave around the lid and it’s frame...

Lining a Fireplace and covering the adjacent walls.

Hi All. Sorry to resurrect an often repeated question and that it's long, but as I'll be having my woodburner installed next week, I wanted some quick answers. Even though I'm having a Hetas Installer to install my woodburner,I still like to research around a subject for myself. We had a small...

Offsetting in a Flue for Multi Fuel Burning Stove

Okay thanks for this. We're having the work done by a Hetas Installer so should all be ok, I just like to understand things too before they are done.

Offsetting in a Flue for Multi Fuel Burning Stove

I presume then that most often the offset is hidden behind and under the closure plate?

Offsetting in a Flue for Multi Fuel Burning Stove

You may be correct but I haven't come across that one before, there are lots of images with offset flues starting at the stove top, so not sure on that one. As you say hopefully someone will be able to advise further.

Offsetting in a Flue for Multi Fuel Burning Stove

Hi Everyone. Hopefully this is the correct place to ask this. I'm going to be having a Multifuel burner installed. At present with the fireplace opening we have, the flue will be able to go straight up from the top of the stove with no offset. The place that the fire is, sits mainly to the...

Can't fit the door back on new Integrated Dishwasher!!

I don't know what happened to the pictures, but I think you have answered my question. I don't have a template! I have all the paperwork which came with the dishwasher and have double checked everything and I don't have one. . Your instructions now make sense. I'm really not that dense(honest)...

Can't fit the door back on new Integrated Dishwasher!!

Sorry for the delay.Yes I did receive the instructions. As they don't really help I thought it best if I sent you some pictures. The one of the white door the plastic actually juts out and used to hook into openings on the previous machine. http://www.diynot.com/network/redlos/albums/
