    New 50mm MDPE water connection

50mm! how long is the run? I'm not a plumber but did something similar What type of heating system are you going to have? How many baths/shower etc.

    Instant hot water

It isn't now as the 15mm is buried under concrete. I "could" chase another pipe in I guess however, i read you couldn't have a return loop in plastic? Is this correct? I can't see why, as you can run it on heating without issue. A pump to circulate is also going to cost though. I suppose...

    Instant hot water

Hello, I think I have thought of everything. haha. The issue is all the pipes take the same route. This is a slight advantage at times but a disadvantage at others. I.e. The bath/shower everything goes through 1 22mm pipe. When the bath has been run the water stays warm and warms up...

    Instant hot water

Hello, I have looked at any ways to get instant hot water in my kitchen. We have a long run from the unvented cylinders, some of which is large bore pipes 22mm. So to DHW in sink or basin in the downstairs toilet takes 30 seconds to be warm. I have one of these at work, it works...

    Underfloor insulation

I used Kingspan on my vaulted ceilings. I filled the gaps with expanding foam. Worked great for cutting out drafts.

    Underfloor insulation

Hello, I did exactly the same, but used pond mesh, (cheapest) I used 200mm rockwool. Packed tightly around the edges, where you lose most heat. I think it made a big difference, although hard to tell exactly because it was i prep for underfloor heating.

    High flow digital mixer

Hello, I'm just wondering if anybody offers a high flow digital mixer shower. Ideally looking for 40+lpm. I don't see the point of running the pipes down the wall (22mm ideally) to go back up. Its very hard to find flow rates quoted, but i've seen most offer 15mm pipe so guess the flow...

2 x indirect unvented cylinders, problems?

What way would you say is better? Would I need the second pressure reducing valve? I was actually thinking about setting the first cylinder at a slightly lower temp to the second. If I was running parallel I would try to keep the length, and more importantly bends equal. I planned on...

2 x indirect unvented cylinders, problems?

Hello, Thanks again for the replies. Is there any reasoning why to go parallel over series. To me series made more sense. Doitall, What is a reverse return primary circuit?

2 x indirect unvented cylinders, problems?

They cylinders will be accessible, its just height thats an issue. I think the easiest way would be to have the water through both cylinders. It would save having to balance the cylinders. So it would be, cold feed to first cylinder, hot to cold feed of second, then out. Obviously one...

2 x indirect unvented cylinders, problems?

The cylinders only lose 1kw heat per day. We will all take a shower/bath etc. The stored water is already heated yes, but it would/might have to be reheated if some is drawn. The combi just heats the water you use. My main reasoning is the combi is going to be in the utility. The tanks in...

2 x indirect unvented cylinders, problems?

I didn't know this. Are the rest of my assumptions correct? I.e. A 180l tank will only give say 140l of usable warm water? I planned to keep the pipework equal, gate valves aren't a bad idea to tune. I was wondering if there was any kind of electronic control unit? That can detect temperature...

2 x indirect unvented cylinders, problems?

I've posted another topic on this in the past, but it went a little off course. I'll try to keep it brief. Loft space (where the cylinder will go) is 1200mm max. This means i'll have to go horizontal cylinder or 2 smaller ones. If I go 2 x 180l cylinders, its still cheaper than a...

    Basin waste into pan connector

I have just fitted the exact same one. I haven't had an issue yet. But its fitted in the downstairs toilet. If you wash your hands after every flush there won't be a problem. :)

Diy Loft conversion 2 up 2 down 1900's terrace

All looks good, i'd have ran a cable to the TV for the ariel/sky though. Unless you can get to it afterwards.

    Grub Screw Size?

It looks like an m6 x 1. (basically a 10mm bolt thread) But this seems on the large size. You could try a 10mm bolt and see if the thread is the same. If it is then order the above. It could be m5 x 1mm which is another common size. Slightly smaller than a 10mm head bolt.

    Electric underfloor heating insulation advice

Hello, I'm wanting to run Electric underfloor heating in my kitchen, there are no rads. The existing floor is concrete. I have 30mm to reach the wooden floor level of the other parts of the house. I was thinking of running 10mm insulation then a 20mm screed, followed by tiles or a wooden...

    Combi or unvented direct cylinder?

I've found a suitable Horizontal cylinder, buts it's over 2k. I could easily get 2 smaller cylinders for less than that, with about £500 left over for the controller. If there is such a thing. I'm not sure what you mean with the pressure reducing valve? My incoming mains is only 3.6 bar. Do...

20LPM, 5 bar pressure, combi or unvented cylinder?

I'm not a professional, but have been looking at the exact same myself. I was going unvented. I have 3.6 bar pressure but 30lpm. So it was a little easier. Somebody (on here) suggested to go with a Glow Worm Ultrapower. It seems a good compromise between the 2. I decided with my flow rate...
