    Please help Plumbers advice

If what you're saying is that you have to re-pressurise the boiler every couple of days then there is a serious problem, possibly underfloor leak. Check the safety pipe to outside (comes from opening on front right hand side of bottom of boiler), and see if there is any water coming out...

    CCN TEST

If he's about to take the test he should either have or have access to a copy of the CORGI 'essential gas safety' manual. If he is serious about doing what he does then he should certainly OWN an up to date one. In this manual he will find the correct generic procedures for absolutely...

Potterton Puma 80- HW fine but CH cuts off very quickly

I'm sure the Puma has a TC interrupter, so could cut out pilot if overheated. Maybe one of the Potterton guys could confirm this but I think its right. Thermocouple should maybe be changed anyway if its a few years old. also check the pilot assembly for blockages. The problem you are...

Gloworm Ultimate 40FF Blows PCB Fuse

I had a Glow worm 30ci not firing, no fan on but pump turning. When aps made it fired. Fan not jammed & resistance was OK according to Glow worm and was getting 240 volts into it but not working, fan worked when put on flylead direct to mains, however not when pcb driven. All wiring continuity...

    Powerflush Problem

Don't like to attach the boiler to systems full of sludge & magnetite. I pipe up to the boiler, remove the flow & return tails, and attach powerflush machine from right underneath the boiler. I then powerflush before physically connecting boiler once procedure is done. Besides, then one has...

    Powerflush Problem

Hi all, got a problem with powerflushing. I had a customer who I installed a boiler for & powerflsuhed come back to me some months after complaining that he had bled a rad and a load of black water came out. I assured him it was just a small amount at the top of the radiator and nothing to...

Potterton Puma 80- HW fine but CH cuts off very quickly

If changing pump I'd reccomend changing diverter too, I've been to a few and changed one or other, only to find that a few weeks later that the other has failed!

    Damn Halstead Ace..

Sorry Mr Agile, I did remove & test both NTC's at room temp & in 60 degree water. Both seemed OK giving same resistances. Voltage being applied to gas valve doesn't alter unless control knobs on front are turned. The small screw on the gas valve doesn't have any effect on this model...

    Damn Halstead Ace..

Halstead ace igniting on DHW mode getting to full gas, then not modulating down from the gas rate it is at (water 9.5mb, ch 5mb). Cutting out once it gets too hot. Both Ntc's ok at room temp & at approx 60 degrees. All major components ok (pump, fan, etc gas valve resistance seems ok)...

    Biasi boiler pressure

1 bar cold pressure is OK. When water is heated it expands and in a sealed system this means that the pressure rises. 2.3 bar is quite high but not presently a real problem, the expansion vessel is probably undercharged. Do a search on this forum for expansion vessels and you can...

    Ariston Unvented (drip drip drip)

He's a very rich investment banker who, after I explained what the pressure reducing valve was and did, and that there was an (unrelated) problem related to the pressure in the vessel, said just to replace the lot! I'm not going to argue with him, its in my interest to change these parts as...
