    Combi Boiler Pressure

Thanks ChewChew that is an interesting suggestion. I hate it when things apparently happen for no associated reason but the radiator acting as you suggest could make sense. Problem i've got now is that trying to check anything like that is probably way beyond my ability. I've got the system...

    Combi Boiler Pressure

Many thanks for the respons. It is a reasonably large semi-detatched house with 4 bedrooms and 2 reception rooms, so not massive. I've dropped the pressure to 0.8 and put the heating back on and it went up to 2.6 before I lost my bottle and switched the heating off again!

    Combi Boiler Pressure

Hi there the highest radiator in my central heating system was cold so i knew it needed bleeding. The system is powered by a Valiant Combi boiler and the pressure was low (0.5), so i topped it up as recommendedon several posts, to about 1.4, whilst bleeding the radiator. Now when the boiler runs...

Guys hope you can help out as the weather turns colder I really need to get this fixed! I have a 2002 Galaxy 2.3 Zetec that has been a brilliant workhorse and has served us proud. As it nears the end of it's uselful life i'm trying to eke out yet another winter. Several weeks ago the old bus...

    computers

Guys i've fixed it. Spoke to several mates that know about these things and they advised to check what type of motherboard it was and google that "BEEP"code for that motherboard combination. Got the info, google'd it and it pointed me towards RAM. So i took out and re-seated the RAM, still got...

    computers

Hi guys i've got a desktop with Windows 7 on it (installed recently by a mate who knows about these things!) and it has been working perfectly for the past few months. Started it up this morning and all was well until the internet froze - so I switched it off by the "big button". The machine...

    Blocked heat exchangers in boiler

Guys sorry i've not got back on line but the noise has been gradually diminishing and it has now completely disappeared. So what do I do now - get the boiler serviced by a (different!) competent plumber or do I leave well alone and keep my fingers crossed? Pemba ps what is the best boiler...

    Blocked heat exchangers in boiler

Thanks for the responses guys, is SD40 actually Fernox DS-40? Assuming it is then I see that it is about £60 for a box and it is designed to be used in a powerflushing unit (although it does note that it can be added direct to a radiator) - so is this something I can do myself or should I...

    Blocked heat exchangers in boiler

many thanks to you both for your comments however its not too clear to me what the answer was (perhaps due to the snipping!). Any chance of a clear answer to the question please. Pemba

    Blocked heat exchangers in boiler

Guys thanks for all the interest and sorry I should have said its a Valiant Combi boiler that has worked without problem for 8 years. When we had the system installed we retained 2 of the original curved radiators that fitted around the bay windows (although they were flushed through to remove...

    Blocked heat exchangers in boiler

Hi there i've previously posted about a noisy boiler after fitment of a couple of new radiators and it ended with me saying I was going to call out a CORGI registered plumber to identify the problem. Well he duly came out and informed me that both heat exchangers were blocked causing a...

    hot water system noisy

Hi there just to provide an update i've spoken to the guy who fitted the boiler (as suggested i'd checked that he was registered!) and he suggested a couple of things that i've tried - none worked! However, i've just noticed that there is a regular drip coming from the boiler overflow (i'm...

    hot water system noisy

Thanks for the comments guys - if/when I get a plumber in he/she will be Corgi registered. As for the boiler flow rate there was no work done on the boiler other than to refill the system. Could it be that the system has more pressure in it now than it had before he started (it was quite...

    hot water system noisy

Well its been almost a week now and its still making the same noise with the same rythmn and only when the hot water is running. I understand that the water supply wasn't drained and that the pump doesn't power the water supply so what on earth can be causing this problem? Problem now is that...

    hot water system noisy

Hi there i've just had a couple of new radiators fitted (by my nephew who was up from London for the weekend!) to my central heating system which is powered by a Valiant combi boiler. So the system had to be drained down, new rads fitted, system refilled and all working OK - until it came time...

CH thermostat replacement with combined timer/thermostat

Ahh just had a read of the spec for this item and it states it is fed by 2 wires - which 2 of my 3 (discounting the earth presumably!) would I use? Pemba

CH thermostat replacement with combined timer/thermostat

Ahh good question and one that I did think about covering in my initial question. Where my boiler is sited is in a cupbord that also houses a washing machine and tumble drier with the tumble drier being mounted directly in front of the boiler - so access is limited (I have to remove the...
