Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks for looking. It's on my bathroom wall, about 6 inches from the ceiling. I've got a light and an extractor fan in the bathroom so am wondering if it's connected to that? Thanks again. http://www.diynot.com/network/statstastic/albums/

    Load bearing internal wall?

Forgot to say that the second floor dogleg wall also sits on floorboards and a joist, i.e, any load from the second floor is separated from the 4ft wall by floorboards and a joist. It really looks to me like a non-load bearing wall, but I'd really appreciate any advice.

    Please help stop my dribbling!

Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can persuade a strapping male friend to have a go at the nut as I couldn't shift it. Cheers for the cloth tip too!

    Downlights and loft insulation

Thanks for the suggestions, it's a bit clearer now. I'll get some of those fire covers and insulate around, but not over, them. Thanks again! :D

    Downlights and loft insulation

Hi, My new home has downlights set into the ceiling and no loft insulation over the top. I think this is because they are not sealed - they look like the cheap and chearful "Adjustable Downlight Satin Nickel MR16" from screwfix. The result of which is that my ceiling leaks heat like a sieve...
