    Floodlights keep tripping MCB.

I knew you were going to ask that, but only once I'd already left. I'll have to get back to you on that one but they did work for well over a year without any issues and nothing's been changed with them.

    Floodlights keep tripping MCB.

Hi all, I'm having an ongoing issue with two floodlights on the side of my building. They are the only two lights on the circuit as far as I'm aware and for about 6 months now I've been unable to use them because no sooner do they start warming up, they trip. As advised by my electrical...

    Sealant around UPVC windows

I'll just do a patch test on a window somewhere and see if it's ok. The pre-paint wipe I've got is supposed to be universal for cleaning surfaces without leaving any residue so I'll just give that a go and see how I get on. Cheers for all your help people!

Sticking Xmas lights around windows/UPVC frames

I use the suction cups as previously mentioned. I got two packs of 25 from Homebase for £2.50 per pack. Not one of them has fallen off so far.

    Very cold, metal front door...

Definitely no room for a vestibule. The doors to the living room and second room are pretty much up against the front wall. I've got a family friend who owns a window making firm. I'll ask him for a quotation for a composite door. Definitely sounds like the best and least disruptive option...

    Decent extractor fans for bathrooms?

Where do you get the spring supports from? Our current fans reverberate through the entire house and sound like the whole house is vibrating so any damping will be a blessing...

    Decent extractor fans for bathrooms?

So would you recommend keeping the existing vent, but adding another closer to or above the shower cubicle and linking them up with this motor running them? Also, noob question I know, but how do you support the weight of the motor?

    Very cold, metal front door...

I appreciate what you're saying but I'd rather fix the problem than just mask it with a curtain. I've got two small kids and they've already managed to pull two curtain rails down bringing half the wall with them because the fixings just pulled massive holes out of the plasterboard, so I'd...

    Sealant around UPVC windows

Is that just a standard spirit wipe like a pre-paint prep? I've got a 5ltr can of that stuff if that's any good.

    Decent extractor fans for bathrooms?

Hi all, I'm just trying to get an idea of a few jobs I need to do with our house that we moved into in May. Our shower room isn't exactly running with condensation when we use the shower, however, the extractor fan is on the other side of the room from our shower, and we clearly have a bit...

    Very cold, metal front door...

As in my last post, this is another concern of mine with regards to our 8 year old house feeling cold in general. We had a huge draught going through our living room with one of the windows not shutting against the draught excluders, but we've had that fixed now and the living room feels...

    Sealant around UPVC windows

I had a chap out to fix a couple of the hinges on our UPVC windows as they weren't closing properly and were letting a huge draught into the house, and when he came out he asked me if I wanted him to fix the sealant around our windows too as he had done a few of the houses in the estate and...

Clueless about Underfloor Heating - Help please!

Ok just to clarify, while I appreciate the time taken for everybody's suggestions, I really am not looking for alternatives to heat the room. I have been advised by three different builders to use underfloor heating for my situation, I just don't really want to chase them for advice when I'm not...

Clueless about Underfloor Heating - Help please!

To be honest as long as it just takes the chill off the room that would be enough. The radiator itself is a double panel radiator with a cover on it with a towel rail on the top but I want to change it for a heated towel rail anyway, so hopefully the combination of a towel rail and a little...

Clueless about Underfloor Heating - Help please!

The condensation runs down the internal walls too, so not just the external wall which as it happens is already insulated and there is already an extractor fan. Like I said, the radiator is not effective enough and there is no room to fit a bigger one, therefore the only other option I can...

Clueless about Underfloor Heating - Help please!

Hi all, I recently moved into my new house and have a bathroom and separate shower room, both of which are currently carpeted and stink! I have already bought the tiles I'm going to put down, but I would also like to put some underfloor heating down too. The bathroom isn't too bad and is...

Problems using flag lifter - Probst Stonemagnet

Hi all, Probably just down to my own inexperience but my dad is retired and I'm trying to sell a load of his tools on, one of which is a Probst Stone Magnet. I'm just trying everything to make sure it's working and I've put a new battery in it and changed a couple of the internal hoses in...
