Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

So with regards to my question on here, this method of boiler sizing is irrelevant as I am getting a combi boiler. In summary, combi boiler you need to work out flow rates you need. Regular boiler, you need to work out heat output. Is that correct?

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

15k to do plumbing on a smallish 4 bed house?!? Makes it sound like I am robbing the guy for giving him the job and then have a cheek to ask for breakdown. For close to 7k, I presume I should be grateful he's bothering to turn up? :)

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

Bengasman - agreed. I am flexible in how I let people work and trust the workmanship and to let people get on with it in their own time. I do however insist on knowing what I am getting ahead of installation - it just avoids disappointment later on. I can't compromise there but I don't want to...

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

This is obviously far more interesting than discussion on boiler efficiency :). What is included is install only 3 bathroom (1 bath/toilet/sink, 1 shower/toilet/sink, 1 toilet/sink). I supply all the taps and all bathroom units (toilet, etc) Supply and install central heating with 7 rads, 3...

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

whats included is fitting central heating (7 rads + 3 towel rails), 3 bathrooms and boiler (WB 37cdi). Price is ok - I didn't think it was cheap or expensive just in the area I expected. Problem is that I can't seem to find out exactly what I get for it.

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

Bengasman - related to your comment and why I don't want to question plumber too much. I have asked the plumber to breakdown the quote he's given me for central heating and bathroom installation as he only told me what boiler he's using and how many radiators/bathrooms he's fitting. So far he's...

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

Thanks for all the replies. As far as modulating - I looked at the specs before asking the questions and I agree with bengasman - even the biggest boiler goes down to 10KW (which is less than the smallest one you can buy). 10KW is around requirement for a small 3 bedroom house. My only...

Combi Boiler size - does it matter?

What is more important when you decide on size of your combi boiler - radiator output or the flow rate? Speaking to Worcester Bosch tech support, they are telling me that you shouldn't look at radiator output but 'how many taps you want to use at the same time'. And yet, there is plenty of...

    Undefloor heating - patterns

Entire house will have new central heating installed. UFH will only be in the kitchen dining room as thats the only area with screeded floors. There'll also be a timer/stat to control that area. Wavin offered what they called quickcalc service where they provide part list based on your...

    Undefloor heating - patterns

The UFH was installed in kitchen / dining room. The entire area was 35 sqm and all UFH companies told me because its 1 zone only there is no need for design. I contacted Wavin, Continental, JG, Polyplumb. I ended up doing my own plans and giving him that as I had nothing better. The kit was...

    Undefloor heating - patterns

Thanks Martyn and others. I just wanted a bit of a feedback. All I have to go on is the specs and plumber hasn't followed them as I would have if I have done the job myself. I haven't got experience to draw on to tell me it'll be fine and as my plumber is new at this, he doesn't either which...

    Undefloor heating - patterns

I don't know if there is a problem - thats why I am asking the question :). There certainly is plenty of pipe but what I am concerned about is that areas of floor are covered with lot more pipe than other areas. If pipes are not uniformly spaced on the entire floor, is this going to cause...

    Undefloor heating - patterns

So what should I do - rectify in places, leave it as is or start again? I am concious that I spent lot of effort and money in preparation for this underfloor heating and I want it to work right - not be unevenly heated, temperamental mess that we just avoid using . I clearly told plumber...

    Undefloor heating - patterns

My plumber's installed underfloor heating pipes and my question is - how sensitive is the temperature difference in the floor area depending on pattern - pipe spacing. In the big square area, he's done the spiral pattern I asked him to do with roughly 20cm centres (Pic 1). In the smaller...

Anhydrite/Alpha Hemihydrate floor screeds - Repairs

I've been told you must patch it with anhydrite screed you mix yourself and never sand/cement. You can buy it in bags from builder's merchants apparently - although I've never had to yet.
