    first time grouting

Tiles aren't loose. A lot of the grout has cracked between tiles so will go over all of those. Silicone at the bottom has a few gaps so will be doing that also Will try post picture tomorrow

Thanks. The existing grout has cracks where it meets the tiles other than that is looks OK. Will see how easy it is to remove

    first time grouting

Hi All, we have a shower that has cracked grout that needs fixing up. Is it best to try and remove the old before applying the new grout? Also what grout would be recommended please Many thanks

    Window sealant

The nononsensw exterior frame sealant looked good but some reviews saying it's acrylic based. Dow796 sounds good but would this be OK between frame and brick (which I need) also how long is curing time as due rain tomorrow morning. Thanks

    conservatory gutter to ground

True. Thanks, will sort later! In other quote possibly related news.. the block paving is holding a lot of surface water in certain areas. Looks like grade is maybe off plus it's old. I'm sure the conservatory gutter to ground is also not helping

    conservatory gutter to ground

Just want to make sure it won't cause any draining issues as its rain water going into a kitchen drain rather than gutter drain for the house

    conservatory gutter to ground

Can someone pls confirm that it's legal and OK for me to drain the gutter water into the drain for kitchen waste? If not, I'll route it behind that pipe and ten or so feet to the main house guttering

    Window sealant

True, I can see my above link showing low modulus - perhaps https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-glazing-silicone-white-310ml/57735 - might be better (and a little cheaper)

Drayton controls - water ok, but no heating

Well well well you were right!! Turned both on and left for longer and now have heating! All rads are happy. Strange system but hopefully replace sooner than later. Really really appreciate the help. The wife is very happy even though I've told her it's not cold enough yet

    conservatory gutter to ground

hi sorry to re-check this - but if I went with a 90degree elbow then use the above offset bend to get it closer to wall, followed by 70cm of downpipe would there be enough gravity for the flow? Or would it be best to get a 112 degree elbow and run the short downpipe off that?

Drayton controls - water ok, but no heating

Okay, thanks but that being said the controller definitely offers the hot water and heating to be turned on independently of one another. Plus I have turned the CH on with the heating and made no difference

Drayton controls - water ok, but no heating

Controller is Drayton LP522. There are settings both water and central heating to be run independently of one another, including timers for each, so the above would be massively surprising if true. I'm not seeing gravity mode of any kind. I've also turned on the CH with the water ( so the...

Drayton controls - water ok, but no heating

no problem. If anyone has any other thoughts, I'm all ears! I've fiddled with the boiler gauge (ideal classic 0-6, recommends 3/4 during summer, 5/6 in winter) but no joy. Don't see any other controls other than a red reset switch on side of the boiler which Im dying to press, but won't yet :)...

    conservatory gutter to ground

i wondered this. So either fit the above offset to the downpipe where the foot attaches or further up I presume? Would it be best to try and route behind the kitchen outlet pipe and cut into that drain..

Drayton controls - water ok, but no heating

Attached a pic of the water cylinder. Like I say, this system is old and will be replaced soon, but for now, would love to get this working

Drayton controls - water ok, but no heating

Ta. Would you still be thinking it's this valve even though the boiler is not firing up? Will check tomorrow and also bleed to system to rule that out
