    Tanking

If only tanking two walls - and bath height upwards... get the Dunlop kit - plenty of material to complete that sort of area - and half the price of the WP1 kit. Plenty of places to pick the kit up - Trades Direct get my vote for their service and prompt delivery. Not of course that Jas...

    Handle height - internal doors

Ok - a meter up it is then - thanks for the input. In terms of the handle type of rose - a lever handle, but on a round mounting base plate. I'll be going with 3" latches to allow clearance of frame. As for lock block, yep -I guess in todays mass produced door market, it's a significant...

    Handle height - internal doors

is there an recommended height (in any regs etc.) that suggest height for a door handle on an interior panelled door? If not, is it simply based upon visual appeal aligning the handle with the door horizontals? Was looking at a couple of doors today and we're considering swapping some of the...

    Cutting in on coving

Also consider most PVC tape uses a very gummy adhesive that's far more likely to leave a residue than a proper masking tape. I'd spend the extra couple of quid on getting the right tape to save any poretntial additional time in clean up. I'm sure you're local DIY store will have a selection of...

New shower - sealing advice required

I assume the tray to have the frame around the perimeter - tucked under the side flange. The trouble is the plastic bases tend to allow so much flex, that additional bracing is required if you're to minimise the likelihood of movement. If the legs that come with it elevate it say 4 inches...

New shower - sealing advice required

You don't mention any wall treatment prior to tiling ? If all you have a facing is plaster board - albeit moisture resistant, then don't worry about water running down the wall into the tray - it will simply permeate into the wall and seep down to floor and onwards. Tank the walls (Bal or...

What grout around shower - And thanks

Tanking kit less than 30 quid too expensive ... Not compared to having to remove tiles, replaster or repanel and then retile if not done right. I'd prefer tanking first, it allows flex in joints between the walls as well as wall to shower tray or cabinets etc which epxoy resin will struggle...

How much tanking do I need

Yes - one kit will be plenty for that sized area. Pay special attention to the wall to tray seal with the tape, but kits are straightforward to use and contain pretty much all you need for a project as you describe. TD have them at great prices too as you mention.

bathrooms, grout, silicone, window edging strip etc

Why would you want to silicone a corner then grout over the top of the sealant? If you're happy with a final grout finish in the corner and confident there will be no movement why use silicone first? Not sure I understand the benefit of this extra work.

    Leaking shower

check the trap - sounds like an easy visual for you. Then check walls, might be running down walls behind tiles and then emptying onto floor where the boarding runs under the tiles. Tray sounds to be least likely if no damage is visible.

    bosch jigsaw straight cut guide

The fences you attach tend to be limited as they are not that long and will run parallel to the edge they are running against - so if your edge is not square (or whatever angle you wish) from the adjoining sides, it will only be a duplication of what was there to start with. A much better...

    Dimmer for light / fan

Hi, fitting an extractor in the en suite and at same time, would like to change the current light switch from regular 1 way to a dimmer. The extractor though was going to be wired to lighting circuit with a time over run for after lights were turned off. Is a dimmer available that would offer...

    Which tool next?

A cheapo workshop vac ... or if you can stretch to it - a proper chipping/ dust extractor I started with an Erlux cheapo wet and dry vac for around 30 quid and still using it to this day - 4 years on - for all manner of clear up when working around the shop or house. It even cleaned out teh...

    Tiling behind a radia

In theory the same pricinples can be applied to replacing, though typcailly you'll be lucky if the towel rail fittings match up with radiator you remove, and also valves often are not same orientation in regards vertical or horizontal fitting.

Help - Tile adhesive not set

Russ, did the folks at Unibond confirm the adhesive as suitable for the Limestone tiles, based upon the material and also the tile size? 400mm tiles are also pretty large meaning any pre mixed adhesive will require longer to fully cure as the moisture behind them has less chance to escape and...

tiling over on under floor heating

That would depend to an extent on the tile you propose to use, both material and to a lesser extent size. If you're going to invest in BAL products (Which many around here tend to favor), then give their technical help line a call. They will ask lots of questions in terms of teh application...

Bal single part flexible adhesive How much?

If you visit trades direct, they offer good Bal prices to public. However they also offer the Profix product, which I'm led to believe is made in same factory as the Bal and Dunlop products just without the warranty and technical support that comes with BAL. I've used the Profix single...
