Hi, fitting an extractor in the en suite and at same time, would like to change the current light switch from regular 1 way to a dimmer. The extractor though was going to be wired to lighting circuit with a time over run for after lights were turned off.

Is a dimmer available that would offer a variable output for the lighting along with a fixed voltage on / off pole for the fan to be switched from?

So in summary - I'm after a dimmer that I can also use to supply a switched live for the extractor fan - in a single 1 gang unit.

I've noticed many dimmer switches have the input, the variable "load" output and a third terminal - not metered one, but is this a switched live that would work for my needs ?

Done this several times with a normal dimmer you dont need a special one. Just replace standard switch with dimmer, works OK.
The fan switched live is just a trigger to turn the fan on.
Make sure the dimmer is big enough for the load.

Excellent - so as long as the pemanent live to fan is at a constant - the switched can vary without causing any issues. Makes life oh so much easier.

Thanks for the input
