Painting a Rendered House - is it Diy or not ?

Thanks Nige, It has been painted, several other properties on the development same house are all white and must admit they look alot better. This has been done in a dull yellow which makes it look dated. Glad I wont need to remortgage for new render, like I say a few cracks around windows...

Painting a Rendered House - is it Diy or not ?

In the process of buying a house (built 89/90) which has all sides rendered from about 70cm's upwards. Looks in good condition no big cracks just a nasty colour. Questions if I may as I have never owned a rendered house before and am a little concerned at the upkeep (regular painting etc)...

Thanks Hugh, I noticed that the motors for these Honeywell untis are replaceable and available for a tenner online, any ideas if its likley to be this or not. We found last night that the water and heating were on together but the rads stayed on even when the room thermostat was turned down.

Intermitent HW, CH is ok ?

I have been having problems with the hot water, it was ok and is now playing silly beggers. It stopped altogether and the only thing I touched is the 3 port valve (Honeywell 400003916-003) with the bobble ontop. It then worked for a week and has now stopped. It seems to have a manual...

    Spain - Electrics

    Brickwork

We want to get rid of the old patio door and put in wooden french doors . But they are smaller hence bricking up the right hand side. Just incase we dont I will try and remove some plaster over the weekend and see if I can find the edge of the lintel.

    Brickwork 2

See pic under Brickwork post As we cant be sure that the Lintel has enough support on the right hand side where the bricks are cut away, If I fit a smaller door I would have to brick up nearly a foot on the right side, I take it this should then rectify the situation ?

    Brickwork

I need to fit another door in its place but it is a foot smaller, If I brick up the right of the opening this will ensure the Lintel has more than enough support is that correct.?

    Brickwork

The aircon pipes come down from above the lintel and down the side of the old door , so the pipes would go over the front of the lintel. I am also assuming before they plastered over the walls they would have put some kind of wire meshing over the brickwork to stick the plaster to, this may...

    Brickwork

Thanks for that, by the way the quote is wrong I should have said the patio door wasnot structual not the lintel. Ok I may chip it away and see if I can see how far the lintel is in by, I take it I will need to chip away the mortar to get to the lintel. I assume if the overhang was only...

    Brickwork

possibly more possibly less, they have plastered over it so I cant get a shot, But looking at the pic (posted) atleast a 1/3rd of the brick is removed, If the usual overhang on a lintel is 150mm then its more likly down to half this now. They have plastered over it but i dont know if they just...
