so does the rcd monitor the live and neutral together and if there is a leakage current to earth it will trip the RCD is that right?? I thought this would be called a short circuit and it would trip the mcb and not the rcd? what the main differences between the mcb and rcd what can they both...

ye there has been work done, and there was no tripping before, but what i am asking is, if the neutral is connected in the opposite neutral bar, and somebody plugged something into the socket, would it trip the rcd cause that is what is happening, could somebody explain what may be wrong?

could anybody explain exactly what the RCD can detect, and how it works, what it monitors, and what can cause it it trip e.g different situations what can make it trip, and the same for an MCB??? whats the difference between them i can never get my head round what the differences are...

ah right so has your saying if it is connected into the opposite neutral bar, would it trip the rcd if something was plugged into a socket before switching it on,

if a neutral of a supply for a circut is connected into the wrong neutral bar for that circuit, would it trip, everytime something was plugged into, as this is happening to me, would this problem be sorted if i was to put the neutral into the other neutral for that rcd side of the board or does...

1.43 ohms is just within the limit for a B32 MCB so can't see problem. 230/1.43 = 160.6 amps for B type divide by 5 = 32.2 so OK. where are you getting 5 from i dont understand what is happening someone explain? thanks

hello everyone!! im getting confused as too what this means,ive been hearing about this 110volts transformers and that there is something to do with a centre tap and 55volts is that right could somebody please explain what is meant by this and do you have to take live,neutral and earth supply...

so what your saying is what ever the rating off the cable it has to be bigger than the MCB rating?

so you choose the cable on the amount of current the breaker can take is that right?

ah right i see what you mean is it when you use a connector block outside the mains board, and you put the main equipotential bonding to this block as well as your main earth coming in and then take a 16mm to your board from this block is that right?
