sounds like your after lining paper - go for the thicker stuff - can't remember what the weight/grade is but goto any shed and ask, they'll point you to it. as for painting the paper does tend to suck the paint in so don't paint onto it with your expensive stuff, give it a coat with cheap...

plaster effect?!?!?!? are you going to paint over it i.e. do you mean smooth lining paper? or did you have something particular in mind?

morning all just a quick one (ohh errrr misses!!!) going to start tiling a bathroom in the next week or so and was wondering if there's an easy way to tile behind a raditator? can a rad be loosened at the pipes so you can 'swing it down' a bit or have you got to drain the system and...

haven't read all this as it's a bit long but correct me if i'm wrong - your house is on the left? if your house is on the left then surly that heating vent on your neighbours house is illegal? as it's venting towards your property - or is it only illegal if it vents over your property...

thankyou gents i can relate to all that - the stove is only small with the flu exhaust 4/5 of the way up so you can easily fill it up to the flu (it's a top loader) - yep def. left the air holes open so the flames go up the flu - yep the wood is very very dry - 90 year old floor boards...
