morning all

just a quick one (ohh errrr misses!!!)

going to start tiling a bathroom in the next week or so and was wondering if there's an easy way to tile behind a raditator?

can a rad be loosened at the pipes so you can 'swing it down' a bit or have you got to drain the system and remove it?

cheers

You can fold it down as long as there's anough slack in the pipes to allow you to lift it off its brackets.

You have to LOOSEN the valves a bit, perhaps that wasn't obvious. Then nip them up again when it's down. Saves draining the radiator.

But a good opportunity to do so, there is usually crud in there if it has been more than around 6 months since last flushed and treated !

LOL - yeah i realised that - though could've been quite unfortunate if i didn't know that

bathjobby - cheers for the suggestion but luckily (or 'unlucky' depending how you think) that's it's not required as we had a new boiler put in a couple of months back.

If you are dropping the rad of the wall, place some blocks under the rad so that the pipe run remains level, if your pipe run to the rad is along a wall (as oposed to those that come through the floor). This help take some of the stress whilst the rad is laying down.
