New Paving with a drop on sides

It needs to join up with existing path which is higher than the grass level. I was planning to build up with a course or 2 of engineering bricks to support the slabs, much like this

New Paving with a drop on sides

For me there would be a drop on both sides so not such an issue

Where to buy good internal door

Well you can get internal doors in most diy shops. B&Q Wickes, homebase etc are fine. Howdens are good but expensive. Online shops are probably your best bet if you don't have to collect locally

New Paving with a drop on sides

I was thinking of mitigating the curve in this fashion: Or do we think this is a naff way to do it?

    Architrave question

Thanks for the info, i wondered what a 'reveal' was. 2 reasons why i asked 1) the new architrave is slightly wider than the old stuff, so was thinking of moving it closer to the door (or shrinking the reveal) to get the same end point on the wall, but probably not worth the agro 2) the...

New Paving with a drop on sides

That looks great. Only issue I forgot to mention is that each set of 2 slabs will be offset slightly from the one before to get the path over to the side, I figured that would be easier than cutting and trying to form a curve!

New Paving with a drop on sides

potentially could, but the height difference seems to be a bit small for sleepers, would require a lot of digging

New Paving with a drop on sides

Looking to install a new path in my garden, from the patio down to the shed, nothing too fancy, 2x 450x450 slabs side by side, about 25 slabs long. Problem I have is where the patio ends and the grass starts there is a drop down of about 20cm. I will slightly angle the paving downhill to meet...

    Architrave question

Thank you both for the replies. I see what you mean about cutting the architrave to accomodate the hinges, i had not considered that!

100mm building blocks measuring as 90mm, why is this?

usually because "sizes quoted include 10mm mortar joint" apparently to make it easier for you to calculate how many you need

    Architrave question

When fitting architrave to a door lining, is there any reason why there always seems to be a gap between the inside of the door lining and the start of the architrave, leaving a small flat section around 5mm on the outsides? My new architrave is a bit wider than what I have taken off so I'm...

Quote for architrave and door hanging

Probably double it for an engineered door and mdf veneered frame. Triple it for solid hardwood

Quote for architrave and door hanging

Sounds quite reasonable to me, but you should always get a few quotes. Also have a google and see what other people are paying, that should give you a good idea if someone is trying to rip you off, especially if you live anywhere near me and cant find 3 carpenters within 20 miles who want to do...

    Reciprocating saw questions

I always found Titan (screwfix own brand) tool to be very good for the price. I have a DeWalt reciprocating saw and it does a super job of cutting through conifer branches, but the blades will be blunted very quickly

    Driveway drainage

Hello everyone, I'm current having my driveway done by a local company (block paved) The levels on our land mean that the house is below the level of the road access point and therefore rain drains downhill towards the house. The guys who are doing the drive have dug a soakaway and are laying...

    Water Butt Advice

Good point. I am sure the downpipe goes somewhere, it is concreted into the ground at the patio level. I am reluctant to break up the concrete until i am prepared of what may lay beneath, and more importantly, how to repair it I do have another water butt which usually sits behind / to the...
