    Electric Boiler Rating

I currently have oil central heating and my boiler is a Boulter Boilers wall hung external Camray 15/21 rated at 65000Btu/19kW. In view of the high cost of oil I have been looking at Electric Boilers as a replacement. So far the highest rating I have found is 12KW. I'm don't know if...

Using POSTCRETE in a dry mix

Thanks for the reply. I had assumed POSTCRETE contained some form of ballast etc. although it's not obvious from looking. I'm using the one from Wickes which I recall reading somewhere has a low aggregate content. As I have the bags over it seems a shame to waste them, hence my question. I...

Using POSTCRETE in a dry mix

I have some patio slabs to lay after completing some decking. I intend to use the dry mix method. I have a couple of bags of POSTCRETE left over from the decking project and wondered, given how quickly POSTCRETE sets when water is added, if it would be possible to use the POSTCRETE in the dry...

    Upgrading hdd on Medion Notebook

I have a Medion MIM2120 Notebook that has a 40GB WD Scorpio WD400UE drive fitted which is 5400 RPM. I would like to either fit another drive, if possible, or upgrade the existing drive. The WD Scorpio is available in 40Gb to 320GB capacities but I would not mind fitting another faster model...

    Garden Electrics

I want to run electric to a summerhouse. Primarily I want to have lighting and perhaps be able to have a small convector heater for cool evenings. The total run will be about 45 feet from the source. I'm assuming the best and safest way will be to lay armoured cable but I'd welcome any...

    Bathroom Knobs

Thanks for the humerous replies. But to be serious, sorry don't have any photo I can post and as they have moved won't be able to get one. I know it's a long shot but thought I would try as I really liked the locking system for the bathroom, best I've seen. Something on the same lines...

    Bathroom Knobs

Wonder if anyone can help. Friends of mine have just moved house and in their previous property they had round porcelain door knobs. The bathroom/wc knobs had a thin lever that slipped down to lock the door. To release the lock you just had to turn the knob. These were very nice but...

    Fruit Trees Attacked

That's what I would have thought but not being a gardener couldn't be sure. Wonder if it could even be a bird (unlikely I know) we've had one or tow strangers in the garden this year. Keeping fingers crossed someone can come up with something.

    Fruit Trees Attacked

Hope these images give enough detail (it was pouring with rain in the garden). Didn't know how to resize the image so sorry if a bit big. Did some follow on research since posting and read that the Winter Moth caterpillar (the 1 and half inch long green 'looper' caterpillars), can do...

    Fruit Trees Attacked

Will take a couple of piccies later today. How do I post them as the Img icon refers to a web site, which I don't have. Thanks

    Fruit Trees Attacked

Wonder if anyone could shed any light on what have attacked our fruit trees. We live in Essex, in a rural area with farmland back and front. We have two apple, a Lord Lambourn eating and a Lord Derby cooker. We also have a Concord pear tree and a young cherry tree. This year they have all...

    Worktop To Wall Sealant

Thanks for the replies. I'll take a look around and see what I can find. I belive that Wickes do a Bathrrom, Shower & Kitchen sealant which might do the trick and has the advantage of needing a gun to apply. I'll also keep an eye out for the Dow Corning as I know that's usually good stuff.

    Worktop To Wall Sealant

The grout along the top edge of my workstops, where they butt up to the wall, has started to break away. I also have a problem with the grout along the top of a couple of cupboards where they meet the coving also breaking away after cutting out a space for a new free standing cooker to replace...

Wiring in FCU's via Junction Box

Thanks, I more or less knew as much but still worth being reminded. The FCU I believe would be classed as DP but not to sure about the neon switch but as it's also fused I'm assuming this would be classed as the same thing so I should have double protection for isolating the circuit.

Wiring in FCU's via Junction Box

Thanks for the replies. I was sitting having my dinner and I suddenly thought "Why on earth did I ask that question". For some reason I kept thinking of a light switch whereas the neon switch has L & N Feed and L & N Load so can be connected straight from the MCB and then directly to the...

Wiring in FCU's via Junction Box

An electrician friend of mine has said that it's OK for me to make all the connections to a couple of new FCUs I need, PROVIDED, he makes the final connection to a new MCB at the consumer box. See my earlier post Bathroom re-vamp With that in mind I want to lay in all the cables ( I have some...

    Bathrrom re-vamp

Thanks for the info and link. The MCB you refer to won't fit my consumer box but The Fuse Company have pointed me in the right direction and I have two on order.

    Bathrrom re-vamp

Thanks crafty, sorry for the confusion, I thought I might have given that impression hence my correction. I have an electrician friend who will carry out the work but have been asked to get all the bits and pieces needed and get as much of the simple work e.g fixing dry lining boxes etc in...

    Bathrrom re-vamp

By the way why do you say Are they ALL marked like this, B32? <Major alarm bells ringing> Perhaps I weasn't clear enough. Apart from the Cooker which is 32A the switches to the left of the RCD trip are as I stated (B32). The lighting MCBs (the ones coloured white) are B6. Hope this helps.
