My Aqualisa thermostatic shower valve has failed and cant be resurrected. The tradesman who came to cut it off(it was leaking) says I can replace it and it would cost around £350 to £400. I am wondering whether it is really worth having a thermostatic shower valve rather than a simple mixer...

Chris R mentioned you cannot pressurise a baxi gas boiler if set in the chimney breast. Just trying to understand why such a boiler cannot be pressurised if a boiler positioned elsewhere can . Could you help me understand please ? Jim

Thyanks to you all for info. Glad I asked as I would otherwise let some guy mess up my whole system. The F&E level reaches only one third of the height of the rad . I get no air out of it and no heat into it. Maybe the Myson is the answer. Jim

unfortunately because of the way the job was done and the sloping roof,the f&e tank cannot be raised. The rad is also as low as it can be so I cant adjust as suggested. Jim

I didnt actually inspect the coil myself. However I know that the coil itself had deteriorated to the point where there was a crossover between the central heating and the water heating functions. This was caused by the coil having corroded enough to leak out in the hot water cylinder. It...

had exactly this problem and found that the cause was the coil in the hot water cylinder was fractured. I replaced the cylinder and this solved the problem.

Had the same problem and it was caused by the coil inside the hot water cylinder being ruptured allowing crossover of central heating and hot water system. Solution was a new cylinder and problem resolved. Jim

No matter how often I bleed the radiators and get the air out, within a day the problem comes back. Can anyone say how best to track down the problem and how to deal with it. The header/expansion tank seems to function OK. JJ
