Waterproofing a building below ground level?

how did you get on with your building? I'm needing to excavate for an outhouse for similar reasons too, and i'm weighing up the pros and cons of each solution. My building was going to be a timber structure on a concrete slab, I was thinking of a slightly different method as I have enough...

    Garden Gym height options

ok, looking into this further, as i'm planing on building this within 2m of the boundary, my real only option is doing it like the following, excavating 50cm. As the rest of the area is gravel, on top of non-compacted soil, there is never a drainage or flooding issues and it's around 50m from...

    Garden Gym height options

Hi, Ten years on from building my garden office and two years on from building my workshop I would like to add the final price to the puzzle... a garden gym. I'm very lucky to have a large garden that enables me to build these buildings away from the house, with minimal impact on the...

    Geberit leaking (video)

I've had this cistern (123.137.11.1 - Like this one) installed for the last 15 years, it has suffered with the blistered silicon washer at the bottom of the flush mechanism which i've changed a few times. However i've just noticed a wet floor, and on further inspection I can see the outlet pipe...

    Solar hybrid advice

Funnily enough, my brother was looking at a Victron inverter as it does most things and removes the need for additional gear. I see this as good and bad. It's great from a compatibility POV but if it breaks then the whole thing will need replacing.

    Solar hybrid advice

thanks for the links, I think they should. That being said it's a pretty massive topic as i'm just finding out, and opinions are subjective. If you listed your requirements, people could suggest hundreds or permutations with believable arguments for each. It would also seem that lots of...

    Solar hybrid advice

did you find a good forum in the end. I've always got decent advice from here but solar seems to be a whole other thing

    Click flamguard upgrade strategy advice

My Dad did this to his, it was a real pain and the LEDS purchased have been awful and don't last very long at all. Clearly you get what you pay for but our bulbs generally last very well. So i'm not sure reliability is a reason to switch. Only the saving on electricity bills... i'm note sure how...

yes, that's my dilemma. Do I stick with what i've got or try and convert my units to 230v LEDs. I am looking reduce electricity consumption, if it's cost-effective

Sorry, that was my typo/mistake. I meant swapping from GU5.3 to GU10. Perhaps this isn't necessary...? The guy from Scolmore did say there would be a saving, but as they were low voltage and I wasn't switching from 203v there is much less of a saving. I guess my biggest issue if having to...

to follow-up on this, I called Scolmore who manufacture the units to see if they had a conversion kit and interestingly their technical guy said as they're currently 12v whilst there is a saving switching to LEDS it's marginal, and might be wiped out by the upgrade cost. He said part of the...

    Click flamguard upgrade strategy advice

we're currently running around 30 units in our house, they are LV 50w halogens with inline transformers and i've been wondering about converting them to LEDS. I'm used to removing and replacing the internals as they tend to breakdown over time due to heat from the bulbs. I have a couple of...

Neff Integrated Coffee Machine CV7760 - Blocked Coffee Nozzle

No not plumbed in, they have a filter (like a britta) in the water container. I fill mine with filtered tap water as it's better and more efficient. That being said this blocked nozzle problem doesn't seem to stem from a water hardness POV but a build-up of minute coffee granules. When it gets...

Neff Integrated Coffee Machine CV7760 - Blocked Coffee Nozzle

where are you using the paper-clip? there is a larger hole in the middle (where the bulk of the coffee comes out) but smaller ones around the perimeter which require a needle to unblock. One of mine has totally blocked a couple of times over the years but I find once done they are fine for...
